In the august presence of P. Gopichand, Mahesh Bhupathi, Deepa Malik, Sanjiv Goenka, Harshvardhan Neotia, Boria Majumdar’s book A History of Indian Sport Through 100 Artefacts was unveiled.

Boria has dedicated this book to three of his close friends namely Raghav Gupta, Joyneel Mukherjee, Debabrata Mukherjee for their contribution to promoting Indian sports. Speaking at the occasion, the writer said that artefacts are rarely given their due respect in India. However these artefacts highlight the achievements that have made the sport what it is today.

Mahesh Bhupathi praised Boria for the book. He also mentioned that the Fanattic Sports Museum must have a picture of him and Leander Paes together. “Leaving aside the controversies, we have had a great time playing tennis together. I have to admit that we were players out of the top hundred and to make it to the top from there was quite special for us” said the tennis legend.

When questioned by Boria how life had changed for Deepa Malik after the winning of the medal, she said that many women who are disabled have now found hope in their disability. “They have come to understand that not all is lost. There is still chance for them. And with me winning at such a mature age, nothing is actually impossible” said Deepa Malik.

The 228 pages book is published by Harper Collins India and is priced at Rs 1299.
