Kolkata-based dance troupe Garfa Mitrayan presented an evening of dance at Sisir Mancha, Kolkata. It comprised Parampara – on the journey of Gaudiya Nritya through generations and Jibanero Dhrubotara – a dance ballet based on the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore.
In the first half, Parampara featured three generations of Gaudiya Nritya exponents – Banani Chakraborty, the guru, Satabdi Acharyya, her successor, and the younger Gaudiya Nritya dancers of Garfa Mitrayan – who simultaneously performed based on the concept of guru-shishya parampara.
In the second half, Jibanero Dhrubotara was a dance ballet in the form of Gaudiya Nritya and folk dances of Bengal, based on the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore.
Jibanero Dhrubatara has been conceived, directed and choreographed by Banani Chakraborty, with the creative direction of Subhadip Chakraborty, the co-dance direction of Satabdi Acharyya Chakraborty and the music direction of Subhadip Chakraborty and Ayan Mukherjee.
