Rotary Club of Calcutta South West in association with Indian Chamber of Commerce and Birla Industrial and Technological Museum organized a competition “Rotary Innovation Festival”. This was a platform for the young minds to show case their innovation.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Rtn Ms Nayantara Palchoudhuri, Committee Member ICC & Director, Washabarie Tea Co Pvt Ltd & Past District Governor Rotary International Dist. 3291 and Guest of honor was Mr S Kumar, Director (Hqrs) National Council of Science Museum. Also present on the occasion were Rtn Mukul Sinha, District Governor Nominee, Rotary International District3291; Mr Ajay Agarwal: District Governor Designate, Rotary International District 3291 and Rtn Debasis De, President Rotary Club of Calcutta South West.
The objective of this avenue is to take up projects involving the youth. Such completion would also help the students to understand the practical application of their knowledge in the field of science and encourage the young talents to start innovating from the very young age. This competition intends to create a platform to recognize the Innovative Projects, since most of these talents gets lost as they are not recognized and nurtured.
In this year’s event eleven teams from School category and nine teams from the college and others category participated in the event. The students from Patha Bhawan, Maharshi Vidya Mandir, Birla High School, DPS New Town, Kandriya Vidhyalaya, Nava Nalanda School, Naraya School, Ram Mohan Mission School, Mahadevi Birla World Academy, St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, MCKV participated in this event.
The innovative projects which were displayed by the students included
Egg safety checking tools; Tito Mini Humanoid Robot; Automated Waste Segregation Using Image Processing And Arduino Firmata; Quadcopter Drone; Balance Bot; Home Automation; Blind Zyan; Spinogenerator For Sewing; Floating Airport; Rfid Based Secured Login System By Arduino; An Arsenic Treatment Filter Equipped With Phytoremediation System; Glidigy; Smart Cap With Accident Detection Using Arduino; From Brine to beverage: Microbial salt removal; Bioremidation of ground water pollution; Locking system of RFID; Face Detection and recignition system; Trageted Drug Delivery using nanobobot for treating tumer cell; Touch screen elctrical switch board; XROMM : An Exceptional Approach To Bioengineering And Applied Biomechanics; Biofuel generation; prototype that significantly reduces the emission of harmful gases from vehicles.
