First Commencement Ceremony of Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Held in Kolkata



Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) was founded in 1946 with the sole aim of providing professional leadership in the area of metals and alloys. This commendable vision led to the formation of the Associated Membership program of the Indian Institute of Metals (AMIIM) in 1962. Since then, more than 10000 professionals have acquired this qualification and served the industry in various ways.

The first commencement ceremony for the 2015 and 2016 batches was held recently. The ceremony saw the presence of Dr. Sekhar Basu, Director, Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy, former President of the Institute, Dr. J J Irani and other dignitaries in the field of metallurgy.


Professor SK Roy, Controller of Examination highlighted on the unique aspects of the program and how the course helps the individuals opting for a career in this field. The individuals who have completed the course from AMIIM have a better chance of sustaining themselves in this industry. With the regularly updated syllabus, the students stay updated and ready for the changes in the industry.
