A special press screening of the Bollywood film Lipstick Under My Burkha was held in Kolkata. Present at the occasion was producer Prakash Jha and director Alankrita Shrivastava.
The story is about four women and their lives. Rihanna seeks the freedom to become who she wants. A two-timing beautician, Leela seeks to escape the claustrophobia of her small town. A housewife Shireen, with three children seeks the alternative life of a saleswoman. A 55-year-old widow, Usha finds sexual reawakening through a phone romance with a young swimming coach.
Speaking about the censorship of films, Prakash Jha mentioned that this must be stopped. The maker can simply mention about the content of the film and then the audience can decide whether to watch the film or not. Incidentally Lipstick Under My Burkha faced censorship issues before the film was released.
Nepotism is another issue on which Praksh Jha gave his opinion at the special screening of the film. He highlighted on the fact that irrespective of gender, talent must be given importance. Nepotism is not good for any industry to grow.
The cast of the film consists of Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur in lead roles along with Sushant Singh, Vikrant Massey, Shashank Arora, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Jagat Singh Solanki in supportive roles.
The film released on Friday.
