To cater to the taste buds of the food lovers of Kolkata, Monkey Bar has come up with ‘Iti Aunty’s Pujor Special Thaala’, a unique, specially curated ‘thaala meal’ of home-style Bengali delicacies only at Monkey Bar, Kolkata. Available from September 24th-30th, 2017, through the day, the dishes are specially curated by Kolkata based home chef, food critic and passionate foodie – Iti Misra.
Each thaala will have a portion of spicy aloo dum topped with bhaja masala, crisp and flaky Mughlai Porota or hot, fluffy luchis, Begun Kasundi, plastic (papaya) chutney, delicately flavoured with aam aada and tangy tomato chutney.The mains in each thaala are different with the niramish orVegetarian Thaala serving delicious Dhokaar Dalna, Parval stuffed with spicy chhana or paneer and the Bengali delicacy of Sukhto – a mélange of vegetables cooked in mustard sauce.
For fish-lovers out there, the Fish Thaala consist of Fish Kochuri to go with the Aloo dum, Bhaapa Chingri wrapped in Kumra Pata or pumpkin leaves, Bhoona Khichuri topped with Dry Shrimps,Fish Cutlet and the delicately flavoured Kamala Bhetki– fish cooked in fresh orange juice! The Chicken Thaala serves up a portion of hearty Bhoona Khichuri with Chicken Meatballs, the ever popular snack Chicken chop, a robust and spicy Chicken Kosha and the old favourite Omelette Curry.
One can also sip on the unusual concoctions like The ‘Trump Card’ (vodka, fresh ginger cordial, passion fruit and bitters), Absolut Lemon Drop (Absolut citron, lemon and triple sec)orCurry Martini (Absolute India, tossed curry leaves, green apple, lime and simple syrup).
Vegetarian thaala costs Rs. 999 plus taxes, Fish thaala costs Rs. 1299 plus taxes and Chicken thaala costs Rs. 1199+ taxes.
Meal for two without alcohol, excluding taxes costs Rs. 1200 plus taxes/ Meal for two with alcohol, excluding taxes costs Rs. 1800 plus taxes.
