The British Council Unveiled Mix The City; Interactive Platform to Connect City with Music and People



The British Council unveiled Mix The City Kolkata, which is a unique endeavour to provide interactive music platform connecting the city with its music and people.

With the help of this initiative, one can create and share their own unique audio-visual soundtrack of Kolkata mixing music samples performed by artists at well known landmarks in the city. There are twelve musicians who are part of this project. Some of them are Kaushiki Chakraborty, Subir Ray, Tanmoy Bose, Somnath Roy, Golam Fakir, Mainak Bumpy Nag Chowdhury, Punjab band and so on.

The Kolkata mix has been curated by Kutiman, renowned songwriter, producer, mixologist, film maker and member of the jazz-funk outfit called The Kutiman Orchestra.


Mix the City is being launched at Phoenix, The Astor. In a special partnership , this will also be showcased at two Pujas namely Ahiritola Sarbojanin Durgotsab and 75 Palli. 75 Palli has a Kolkata-London theme while Ahiritola has creative collaboration as its theme.

Mix the City has four versions- Kolkata joins Delhi and Mumbai with Chennai being added later. Twelve musicians from each region will record twenty four samples that will be compiled into a shareable four minute YouTube track and will also be available on the main Mix the City website.
