“Lehar for Change” was a noble initiative by 18 years old student Aadya Bhartia from Loreto House, Kolkata. “Lehar For Change” was an art exhibition that showcased handicraft products by 40 students aged between 5 years and 16 years from various welfare schools.
The exhibition was inaugurated by US Consul General Craig L. Hall, UK Deputy Commissioner Bruce Bucknell and eminent Indian Artists Bratin Khan and Tanusree Shankar at The Bengal Gallery (ICCR).
Archana Primary Girls School, Basha, Disha Foundation, EkTara, Ek Prayaas, and Karmyog are some of the NGOs that took part in the exhibition.
The children are taught to make various products of everyday use like handmade gift bags, terracotta diyas and tea light holders, hand-painted diyas, newspaper bags, urli paper potlis, lanterns and envelopes, coin purses and paper bags, greeting cards and paper envelopes.
Handmade products started from Rs 20 and go up to RS 550. The paintings by the NGO children ranged between Rs 2500 – Rs 3500.
