On the occasion of Breast Cancer Awareness month Suraksha Diagnostic conducted a breast cancer awareness seminar at their Elgin road centre for women from different walks of life. The seminar witnessed the presence of Dr. Sharadwat Mukherjee Oncologist, Suraksha Diagnostic, Dr. Smita Gutgutiya, Gynecologist, Dr. Somnath Chatterjee Director, Suraksha Diagnostic and Mrs. Ritu Mittal, CEO Suraksha Diagnostics.
One of the highlights of the program was the introduction of India’s first portable breast cancer detection scanning equipment IBreastExam. This scanning is a hand- held, non invasive, and painless breast health test that offers standardized breast examination accurately and which easily determines breast lesions early, at the point of care.
Dr. Mukherjee also said that there is not sufficient knowledge on the causes of breast cancer and early detection of the disease is the easiest way to controlling breast cancer. When breast cancer is detected early, there is a good chance that breast cancer can be cured. The majority of deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, where most women with breast cancer are diagnosed in late stages due mainly to lack of awareness on early detection and barriers to health services.
Dr. Smita Gutgutia, Gynaecologist said that one out of every 25 women is being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in recent times and almost 48% of them are below 45 years. Awareness among the women is necessary to help in detecting breast cancer and getting rid of it.
With such steps, women will surely be more aware and be easily able to combat diseases like breast cancer.
