Stress urinary incontinence is one of the most common problems in India. One out of three women suffers from this problem. Since there is no awareness about this problem, an interactive session on Stress Urinary Incontinence was organized in Kolkata.
The session was attended by Dr Rajeev Agarwal, MBBS, MD, Gynecologist and Infertility Specialist along with Dr Rupinder Kaur Ruprai, MBBS, MD, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dip MIS (Germany) and others.
SUI incidence in patients increase after pregnancy, body weight, chronic cough, menopause, nerve injuries to the lower back and so on. Many women shy away from stating the problem to the doctor directly. It is after much probing this problem comes to the forefront. Awareness is needed so as to give relief to the patients at the initial levels.
The session was followed by the unveiling of Femilift, a state of the art technology to treat Stress Urinary Incontinence. This is the first time that this machine is getting set up in the eastern part of the country. The machine uses lasers to rejuvenate and replace the collagen tissue around the urethra and bladder walls. This is a safe technique which only requires three minutes of therapy. For many patients, they get relief after two to three settings.
