The Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival is a celebration of the literary, cultural and intellectual spirit of Kolkata. The ninth edition of the AKLF is scheduled from 11-14 January 2018, 10 am to 9 pm and as always, heralds the lit fest season in the country. Held for the second year in St Paul’s Cathedral, it is the only Festival to have emerged from a bookstore – the iconic Oxford Bookstore. Following are a few highlights of AKLF 2018:
1)The participation represents writers from across the globe – from the UK, Australia, Scotland, France, Germany, Spain and other regions, and includes award-winning authors, eminent filmmakers, and poets, specially curated events for adults and children, and much more.
2)The list of delegates for AKLF 2018 includes Mira Nair, Vishal Bhardwaj, Basharat Peer, Ashis Nandy, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Nayantara Sahgal, Mark Tully, Namita Gokhale, Manu Joseph, Lord Meghnad Desai, Shobhaa De, Prajwal Prajuly and Tishani Doshi etc.
3) AKLF has offered residencies to participating poets and authors representing two major literary initiatives the Edinburgh International Book Festival, UK and Bonjour India at the French Book Office.
4) This is the first ever association of Soha Ali Khan with a Literary Festival. AKLF 2018 will be a platform for the first time author to release her book ‘The Perils of Being Moderately Famous’.
