As part of a series of programs entitled Sultan@60 celebrating Santoor maestro Tarun Bhattacharya’s 60th birthday, ICCR & Santoor Ashram organized a musical event titled Songs of Nature. The event was a tribute to Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar by three of his most eminent disciples Padma Bhushan Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt on Mohan Veena, Maha Sangeet Samman winner Santoor Maestro Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and Sangeet Natak Award winner Flautist Pandit Ronu Majumdar accompanied by Tabla virtuoso Tanmoy Bose.

Prior to the maestros taking stage 3 talented performers Vrighu Ghoshal (Santoor), Indrani Dasgupta (vocals) Samikshn (vocals) performed at the musical event.

In the mid 80’s, legendary music maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar formulated a unique and first time ever team of his three leading disciples Vishwamohan Bhatt (Mohanveena – modified Hawaiian slide guitar), Tarun Bhattacharya (Santoor) and Ronu Majumdar (Flute).

Soon the trio took the world by storm and they toured all over the world to perform at the most prestigious venue and enthralled the audience receiving standing ovations everywhere.

They also formed a part of Pt. Ravi Shankar’s ensemble and performed with him at the India Fests at many venues. Keeping alive the dream of their Guru, the three disciples performed many unique musical compositions at the event and kept the audience spellbound.
