Starmark in association with HarperCollins India organized an event titled “To celebrate the genius of Satyajit Ray” which saw the release of three books. The three books are Woman at the Window by Shoma Chatterji, Through the eyes of a cinematographer by Devapriya Sanyal and My adventures with Satyajit Ray by Suresh Jindal.

The book was launched in the presence of Sandip Ray, Soumendu Roy, Barun Chanda, Anindya Chatterjee and the authors.

Woman at the window is about the representation of women in Indian cinema which are often stereotypical. However Ray’s heroines defied these stereotypes and are not cliché characters.

Through the eyes of a cinematographer gives a peek in the life of India’s finest cameraman Soumendu Roy.

My adventures with Satyajit Ray look back on the story of how Ray directed the film Shatranj Ke Khilari despite his declaration that he would never write and direct a film that was not in Bengali.

Speaking at the event, Sandip Ray said “The script reading sessions of my father was so extensive that if anyone attended that with full attention, half the work was done. This was a fascinating experience for many actors who have worked with him”.

After the launch of the books, the authors participated in an interactive session with Anindya Chatterjee acting as the moderator.
