Emami Group brought 483 students of 9th and 10th standards from 21 schools of Kolkata, Kamarhati and Haripal regions of Hooghly district, as a part of its recently held 11th edition of the Free Text Book Distribution Programme, under the ambit of its unique educational initiative “Padho India Padho”.
The 11 editions of free text book distribution programme, since its inception in 2013, has so far benefitted around 2775 studentsfrom 9th to 12th standard.
Through a formal function organised at the South City International School Auditorium recently, free text books were distributed to the students in the presence of Guest of Honour Sujit Bose, Honourable MLA, Bidhan Nagar Constituency and Special Guest Becharam Manna,the Honourable MLA, from Haripal Constituency, Hooghly.
Emami Foundation also extends infrastructural aid to some of the education institutes by donating fans, school benches, and water purifiers etc. The Foundation is also going to construct toilets with running water in some of these schools. The Foundation has plans to include more government sponsored and anganwadi schools across the State and the country within the Padho India Padho Programme project in the days to come.
‘Padho India Padho’ is a CSR initiative by Emami Foundation that has been designed to fill critical gaps between the educational facilities offered by the government & the actual need of all stake holders of education sector of the nation. The project is currently being implemented in an around the areas where Emami operates.
