Publishers & Booksellers Guild organized the CESC Book Lover’s Cafe at the 42nd International Kolkata Book Fair, 2018, Central Park. The Book Lover’s Café was inaugurated in the presence of well known film maker Sudeshna Roy, designer Agnimitra Paul and Bengali writer Pracheta Gupta along with guild member Tridib Chatterjee, Honorary General Secretary, Publishers & Booksellers Guild.
It took place over 3 days on 5th, 6th and 7th February encouraging children aged between 10 to 16 years to come forward and put their creative caps on. The café included a plethora of events from art competition, extempore, creative presentation (essay and poetry writing) to literary quiz at the Book Fair.
The CESC Book Lover’s Café was received participation of students from various renowned city schools from its first day. The idea behind such a café was to connect to the youth of today who have fallen prey to the technological advances and have given up reading. The CESC Book Lover’s Café would act as a means to revive the joy of creating in an ingenious way. This initiative is CESC’s humble contribution in helping the Gen-Next discover the romance of book reading and delighting in the unique fragrance of new books.
