Bollywood showstoppers and Lakme Fashion Week goes hand in hand. New designers to veteran designers all have a Bollywood celebrity walking the ramp in their exquisite designs. Sholoana Bangaliana team have compiled the list of designers and the celebrities who strutted along the ramp for the designers.
For Shyamal and Bhumika show, Bollywood queen Kangana Ranaut, walked the ramp in a dazzling ivory encrusted gown with a tulle veil.
Amit Wadhwa’s label ‘AW’ saw Bollywood heart throb Kartik Aryan, strolling down the ramp casually in a hand embroidered safari jacket teamed with a reversible shirt and parallel trousers with side box pleats on seams.
Calling her collection “Fundamental Fragments” Shaila Khubchandani showstopper was Swara Bhaskar who looked relaxed in a dove grey kurta and pants under a black, multi-slit, tabard-style embroidered cover.
“Samanzar – A Garden of Flowers” was the lyrical romantic name given by Meera and Muzaffar Ali for their Kotwara label, which featured at Lakmé Fashion week Summer/Resort 2018. Sushmita Sen regally floated down the ramp to the strains of the Umrao Jaan hit song ‘In Aankhon Ki Masti’ wearing a splendid lehenga, glittering choli and diaphanous dual dupattas.
Inspired by the traditions of North East India, Sanjukta Dutta’s collection at 6Degree Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 was a carefully crafted and ethereally unique blend of history, art and culture. Bollywood beauty Dia Mirza looked gorgeous as she stopped the show with a full-sleeved ruby red blouse, matched with ochré -gold toned sari with shimmering embroidery that comprised gold zari work, stones and sequins.
Ashwini Reddy’s ‘Tilottama’ was a refreshing, edgy, modern take on couture fashion at 6Degree Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2018. Tamannaah Bhatia of Bahubali fame walked down the ramp wearing a delicately embroidered, ruffled blouse teamed with a bright red skirt embellished with gold work and a champagne coloured dupatta/stole.
“Lotus” by designer Reshma Kunhi was a fresh floral inspired collection designed to emulate the complexity and allure of the lotus flower that is known for its beauty and strength at 6Degree Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. Bipasha Basu, Bollywood’s glam diva modeled a dazzling garnet-red layered sari embellished with tassels and opulent gold embroidery, which was worn with an off-shoulder asymmetrical blouse.
A Tarun Tahiliani fashion showing is always a grand display of glamour, style and fashion. For Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 at 6Degree Studio, Tarun brought the romance and fantasy of florals and the cosmic stars along with an ethereal flavour of his signature, layered and weightless fashion for his “Tarakini” Spring/Summer 2018 collection. Bollywood’s current darling, the gorgeous Kriti Sanon brought the scintillating show to an end as she glided down the catwalk wearing a spectacular nude tulle lehenga, choli and draped dupatta that glittered with the constellation of multi-coloured stars.
The ‘Kuzu’ brand founded by Karma Sonam presented the Lepcha Weaving technique, which is the oldest form in Sikkim. The dashing appearance of ace footballer Baichung Bhutia in a mix of jacket, trousers, shirt all in an interesting weave, created a stir amongst the audience.
Payal Singhal’s collection for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 revolved around her mythical muse “Saira” whose name was the title of the glamorous display. Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, glided down in an ivory silk, fully embroidered lehenga, choli and dupatta to end this very ultra-glam line that was ideal for bridal splendour.
Aimed at the fashionable emerging millennials, NEXA presented “The Tribe – The India Story” collection by designers Shantanu and Nikhil at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. To match the royal ambience of the collection, the show stopper was Saif Ali Khan, who strode down the ramp in a black asymmetric closure kurta over slim pants.
To match the stylish handbags, Nishka’s Summer/Resort 2018 collection was aimed at confident women who want to dress in rainbow colours, fabrics and feminine fashion. Actress Saiyami Kher made a glamorous entry in a fuchsia tiered skirt and a mirror work blouse.
Like the spring/summer blossoms that bloom in gardens or Bageecha, designers Vineet Kataria and Rahul Arya for their label ‘VineetRahul’ unleashed a colourful line of romantic, soulful, emotional creations at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. Bollywood actress Tisca Chopra graced the ramp in a head-turning blush pink striped lehenga that was embossed with floral embroidery, while the sequined blouse and cape with a bow at the centre made a lasting impact.
Jayanti Reddy presented “Life In Monochrome” with a range of silhouettes that were flamboyant, yet eccentric at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. For a show stopping entry, it was the gorgeous Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty in an exquisitely embroidered ivory lehenga with scalloped hemline and blouse, teamed with a ruffled dupatta.
For Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018, Ridhi Mehra Sekhri once again wooed the audience with her “Cinco” collection that defined mystique glam and was a mélange of cultural accents. Bollywood beauty Pooja Hegde looked divine in a stunning white creation that featured an embellished bodice replete with silver and tulle that flowed into a white, luxurious skirt that skimmed the floor.
When it comes to ethereal bridal wear, Anita’s inspiration for her collection “Songs of Summer” was totally romantic. Bringing the show to a crescendo were the glamorous show stoppers – Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput, who looked divine in Anita’s stunning bridal couture. Shahid wore a white, embroidered, regal sherwani, while Mira looked dazzling in a white lehenga with prints and Gotta Patti work, teamed with an ornate choli and dupatta.
Label Ritu Kumar’s’ “Hip Hop Baroque” collection presented a lot of vim and vigour at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018 for the coming season. Bollywood, beauty, Tapsee Pannu, in a swinging long op-art, print, shimmering, robe over a black lace inner took the show by storm.
Falguni and Shane Peacock turned their creative design strokes on men’s wear, which they launched with great fanfare at a grand show during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. Bollywood’s darling, Sonakshi Sinha strode down the runway in a black embroidered jacket with fluid pants and a bralet.
When it came to closing this very conversation-stopping line, the showstopper was Karan Johar. Karan confidently strutted down with great style in a silver/black glittering peacock embellished jacket with white side striped pants, waist coat and topped the look with silver hair.
The ‘nudes’ trend has taken the fashion runway by storm, and Lakmé’s take on this popular beauty trend was the inspiration for Anamika Khanna’s Grand Finale at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2018. Bringing Anamika’s collection alive, Kareena Kapoor Khan, the face of Lakmé Absolute, was seen in an all new avatar as she donned experimental street style like never before.
“The Fake Show” by Narendra Kumar presented by Burgoyne highlighted fake news that seems to rule lives through social media along with some surprises from the designer. Handsome and dashing actor Rahul Khanna strolled on the ramp in an all-white entry – biker’s jacket, Tee and track pants.
‘Label De Belle’ by Nancy Luharuwalla showcased a sensual, youthful and sophisticated collection titled “Daze” that was a dazzling display of wearable art at 6Degree Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. The glamorous Malaika Arora glided down the catwalk in the only black ensemble of this line that comprised cigarette pants, worn with a safari-jacket with a mesmerizing trail, heavily embellished with parrot motifs.
“Gulab Baug”, by Julie Shah under her label ‘Julie’ was an exciting prèt collection inspired by beautiful meadows, which enchanted all at 6Degree Studio during Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2018. Stopping the show was the very pretty Kiara Advani who sashayed down the catwalk in a black lehenga, choli and dupatta that was embellished with rose embroidery and accentuated further by gold bead tassels and sequins.
