Subhasish Mukherjee Becomes Birendra Krishna Bhadra For Soumik Sen’s Film Mahalaya

Actor Subhasish Mukherjee who has been mesmerizing the audiences with his comic timing in many Bengali films, will be now seen playing the role of the iconic Birendra Krishna Bhadra in the upcoming film Mahalaya. Directed by Soumik Sen of Gulaab Gang fame, the story of the film revolves around how Uttam Kumar failed to recreate the same magic of the Mahalaya as was created by Birendra Krishna Bhadra.

“I am thrilled to have got such a chance of playing this role. I just hope to do justice to this role. Birendra Krishna Bhadra and his Mahalaya is extremely popular among the Bengalis all over the world. Our Durga Puja begins with listening to the Mahalaya. A huge amount of nostalgia revolves around this. Hence we hope that the audience likes the film” said the actor.


The producer of the film is Prosenjit Chatterjee. He will also be seen in an important role in the film.

Jisshu Sengupta will be seen in the role of Uttam Kumar. Rudranil Ghosh, Kanchan Mullick will also be seen in pivotal roles.

The shooting of the film has already begun in Kolkata from 14th March.
