Eminent Bengali author Nabaneeta Dev Sen, designer Agnimitra Paul and director Premendu Bikash Chaki were present at the inauguration of Bunkaari India in Kolkata. The trio inaugurated the refurbished Gariahat store for the customers.

One of the biggest passions of the individuals working in the store is that more than selling an item, they have the aim of making the people aware of the handloom culture of the country. This is given much importance in the store.

The main aim of the store is to revive the dying art of handloom textiles and handicrafts. Many stores in the city sell handloom products. But what sets this store apart is they focus on near extinct and endangered weaves and crafts of India.

Sections for men and women are found in the store. Saris, kurtis, accessories, bags are available for the women customers. For the male customers, kurtas, shirts, coats are available.

Handloom products from nearly all parts of the country are available in this store. Some of the products that can be found are Chanderi, Maheshwari, Ikat, Uppada, Chettinad, Bandhani, Patolas and others.

“Being a designer myself, I am extremely happy that a store selling solely handloom items have been inaugurated in the city. The collection is expansive and the prices are affordable” said designer Agnimitra Paul.

With the temperatures soaring up, it might be a good idea to visit the store and buy soothing clothes to dress in style this summer.
