In Kolkata, Delhi, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram, Prostate Cancer is the second leading site of cancer among males where it is in third position in Bengaluru and Mumbai. An awareness program named ‘Prostate Adda’ was organized by Prostate Cancer Foundation, a unit of Bengal Urology Trust in association with Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industries to achieve the goal.
DR. Amit Ghosh of Prostate Cancer Foundation, renowned urologist of the country has said that every man, after 45, should test Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) (a kind of blood test) as yearly routine health Check-up to identify and resist prostate cancer, He has also said that only urologist can treat this cancer and radical prostatectomy is one of the best latest generation treatment of this cancer.
At the Prostate Adda, the patients, doctors, senior citizens and prostate cancer survivors shared their experiences. Among the participants, DR. Ashim Datta (93), EX Professor SSKM Hospital, DR. Avishek Basu, R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, DR. Goutam Bandopadhyay, Saroj Gupta Memorial Cancer center Thakur Pukur graced the occasion with their august presence.
