Fashion Revolution, a global movement celebrated this week as Fashion Revolution Week with #whomademyclothes campaign. This was done to encourage millions of people to ask brands ‘Who made my clothes’ and demand greater transparency in the fashion supply chain.
At the time of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, where 1,138 people were killed and many more injured on 24th April 2013, #whomademyclothes campaign was initiated in the name of Fashion Revolution. During Fashion Revolution Week, hundreds of events take place around the world. Fashion Revolution has also organized high level roundtable events on ethics, sustainability and transparency in the fashion industry.
The event mainly focused on walk-in introductory awareness program where simultaneous events went on hand in hand throughout the day. Crowd got hooked on to movie screenings, photo booths, information kiosks, scrap button making and art installations.
Door of Maai is a part of this Global movement.It has been running a two week old and discarded clothes textile collection which will be used for different activities – redesigning, upcycling, art installations, clothes swapping etc with a view to minimize textile waste pollution. With a team of fashion and social entrepreneurs, they are trying to make change in the way the fashion industry works.
