Suman Adhikary’s Short Film Bachhor Tirish Por; Based on Bibhutibhusan Bandopadhyay’s Short Story Chithi

Director Suman Adhikary is back yet again with a new short film titled Bachhor Tirish Por. The film is based on a short story by Bibhutibhusan Bandopadhyay titled Chithi.

Suman Adhikary who created quite a stir with his last short film Rannaburi which was based on an original story feels that trying his hands at different genres of film making is indeed necessary. He wants to work with those stories which have not been done before. He also has the desire to work with the stories of various other Bengali writers in the future.

Sandy, Sankalita Roy (Nirupama), RJ Roy (Jagadananda), Tanushree Biswas, Subrata Burman and others will be seen in pivotal roles in this short film.

The shooting of the film has been done in Jaikrishnapur and Berhampore/Baharampur.

Folk song (Lalon) “Krishna preme pora deho” will be used in the film.

To recreate the situations and atmosphere in the story, the director and his art director Asish (Aziz Munna Sheikh) did not have to face many hurdles. Jaikrishnapur provided the requisite atmosphere for the shoot of the story. There was a scene where 27/28 old lamps needed to be used. The art director did not have to face many problems to gather the old lamps for the scene.

Before the film is released digitally, the film will be sent to reputed film festivals.
