Awadhi cuisine over the years has gained prominence over its Mughlai counterpart. Brought forth by the bawarchis and rakabdars of Awadh, the dum style of slow cooking introduced by them has now become synonymous with Lucknow. Such is its influence that it carved its way to the gourmands of Kolkata, via the last Nawab of Awadh, Wajid Ali Shah who gifted the city, its very own Kolkata Style Biryani.
JW Marriott Kolkata has come up with a lavish Daawat-e-Awadh for their guests and loyal patrons. Across a 10-day long food fiesta, JW Kitchen will be showcasing the decadent delicacies of Awadhi cuisine, starting 13th July till 22nd July over lunch, brunch and dinner.
Some of the signature dishes on display will be ‘Shorba Gosht Yakhni (Flavorful lamb soup)’, ‘Kaale Chane Ke Asharfi (mildly spiced Black gram galettes)’, ‘Urad Ke Naayab Seekh (white lentil kebab, cooked on a skewer)’, ‘Murgh Tikka Mirza Hasnu (Chicken kebab with freshly ground spices)’, ‘Gosht Dum Pulao (Fragrant rice cooked on dum with lamb)’, ‘Bong Zafrani Nehari (slow cooked lamb with aromatic spices)’, ‘Nawabi Paneer Korma (cottage cheese preparation, recipe from a Nawab’s kitchen)’ and much more.
