It is that time of the year, when one returns back to their roots. If you are wondering what I am speaking about, then I am telling you about Sahaj Parav. It began in 2014 and has now become a part of the cultural calendar of Kolkata.
Sahaj Parav is a non-profitable collective effort to bring on one platform different cultural traditions and performing arts with the aim to create a knowledge hub. This festival in future will become the epicenter for all folk and ethnic art forms to converge, mix and evolve. We will transcend boundaries and spread wings to form a global network highlighting the root-arts from this part of the world and learning from cultures across the seas.
In this festival almost 100 folk artists from India and Bangladesh would be performing. The aim is to highlight the different forms of Indian root music like classical, folk, kirtan etc, to establish a connection among the different genres and to open a dialogue between these. This festival will not only include musical performance but also seminars, debates, exhibitions of folk art and folk instruments and felicitation & financial aid to veteran distressed folk artists
The music festival will be starting from 3rd August (Friday) and will continue for two days upto 5th August (Sunday). The schedule of the festival is mentioned below:
