The 18th International Children’s Film Festival was inaugurated at Nandan by the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Keshari Nath Tripathi, Parimal Mukherjee, General Secretary, Cine Central Calcutta, Mohammad Mohiuddin, Chief, UNICEF Office for West Bengal, Ayesha Sinha, Executive Director, Talash Society and others.
32 films from 17 countries will be screened this year at the festival. The selection of the films has been done not only on the basis of interesting story lines and cinematography quality but also for the messages they convey to the children.
The inaugural film is Moana. Some of the other films that will be showed at the film festival are Doctor Funes Formula (Mexico), White Bridge (Iran), The Shamer’s Daughter (Denmark), The Magicians (Netherlands), We Are The Best (Sweden), Giraffada (France), Mama-Mother (Colombia), Happy Flight (Japan), Abulele (Israel) and many more.
Film shows will be organized for children in municipality schools, NGO centres, urban slum areas and government schools too.
For the festival that will be held in Malda, children in Malda will be at the helm of events and they will be organizing the event in Malda.
The film festival will be held from 9th to 12th August at Nandan 2, Kolkata and from 29th August to 7th September at Malda. Entry is free for children and guardians. There will be three shows namely at 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm.
