Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy and Arko Pravo Mukherjee were in Kolkata for the promotions of the upcoming Bollywood film Gold. Gold narrates the story of independent India’s first Olympic gold win.

Akshay Kumar plays a Bengali Tapan Das in the film. Mouni Roy plays his wife’s role Monobina. “Playing the role of a Bengali was not much difficult for me. Not many of you may know that I used to work here in New Market and getting that accent was not difficult. Earlier I could understand more Bengali but now that has reduced” said Akshay Kumar.

Akshay stressed on the importance of playing any kind of sports for the youngsters in our country. “Playing any kind of sport is important. It has often been said that the country whose fields are full will have lesser people at the hospitals. A very good saying indeed. Health must be given importance and to remain healthy, playing a sport is required” said the actor.

“It was indeed a happy coincidence that I got to play a Bengali in my first Bollywood outing. When I went to give the auditions, I mugged up my lines again and again so as not to leave any chance for mistakes. This was a great moment for me as an actress” said Mouni Roy.

When asked which athlete Akshay would love to make a movie on, the actor said “There are so many athletes on whose life films can be made. However I would love to make a movie on kabaddi”.

Akshay Kumar also clarified that he was fascinated by good stories and that he was not only focussing on films based on real life incidents. He mentioned that he enjoyed doing comedy as much he liked doing these films like Airlift or Gold.

For Arko Pravo, his Gold moment was watching Akshay Kumar act like a Bengali. His other Gold moment was his shift from studying medicine to working in the music industry. For Akshay Kumar, his Gold moment was shifting from martial arts to working in films.

Arko Pravo Mukherjee sang the Bengali song Bolte Parini at the event. Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy also sang along with him and entertained the assembled audience.

Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh, Sunny Kaushal and others will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

The film is eyeing for release on 15th August.
