A press meet was organized by the makers of the upcoming multilingual film III Smoking Barrels in Kolkata. The trailer which was recently released has been gaining much appreciation.

The film stars Indraneil Sengupta, Subrat Dutta, Shiny Gogoi, Mandakini Goswami, Amrita Chattopadhyay and others in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Amit Malpani and written and directed by Sanjib Dey.

The film’s story highlights three important aspects of life in the North-East part of India. Children caught in conflicts, drug addiction and abuse, animal poaching and the need for conservation have been shown in this film. The lives of three individuals have been highlighted to focus on these issues.

The film consists of six languages and has been shot extensively in the North-East.

“I am from Assam and when I read the script I was very thrilled. This film will showcase the real problems of this part of the country and not show only the beauty of the North-East. People who have been here will love this and those who have not been here will also get to know so much about the area” said Indraneil Sengupta.

Amrita Chattopadhyay who plays Mukhtar’s (Subrat Dutta) wife in the film said “I met Sanjib da at CCD, Park Street. When I read the script, I was shocked as I was not accustomed with the dialect. He said I was ok but he wanted a tanned girl. I was shocked to think that I will not get a role due to my skin colour. The next day, I used the foundation to tan my colour, wore a sari and met him. He was a little bit convinced. When he finally said I was selected, I was so happy”.

The actress had to put on mud on her body to get the desired look during the shoot of the film.

Papon has sung two songs in the film. Michele Josia well known for his work in American and Italian movies and Anurag Salkia have provided the original score for this film.

Subrat Dutta plays the role of a poacher Mukhtar in the film. The actor mentioned that this film is significant because no one has made a film on the North-East in such a detailed manner. He had played a poacher in the Bollywood film Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans but that was a dark character. Mukhtar is more of a grey character.

Apart from this film, the actor also has films like Sitara, Dotara and Bristi Tomake Dilam ready for release in the coming months.

The film is eyeing for release on 21st September.
