Video: Colors Bangla New Serial Jahaanara
Talaq, Talaq, Talaq-these three words have often spoiled the lives of many Muslim women. However after the Supreme Court verdict, some change has occurred in the lives of the women in this community. Colors Bangla serial Jahaanara focuses on this issue and also on the issues of orthodox beliefs.
The story revolves around Nizamuddin Sheikh, a devout but progressive Muslim. He is against conservative practices of his religion. He has two daughters- Rubina and Jahaanara who are of different nature. Jahaanara, a lawyer is fighting for those women who are victims of Triple Talaq. Rubina meanwhile gets married to Ashraf, son of Abdul Khan, a rich and influential person. Ashraf likes Jahaanara and gives Talaq to Rubina. What happens next?
Joy Badlani (Abdul Khan), Sraboni Banik (Heena), Vicky Deb (Rohan Khan), Payel Dey (Rubina), Sweta Mishra (Jahaanara), Debjani Chattopadhyay (Ruksar) and others will be seen in pivotal roles in the serial.
“With Jahaanara, I am again returning back to working with Colors Bangla. The topic taken up in this serial is socially relevant and with a bit of entertainment, we have tried to portray the happenings in our society. We just hope that the audience likes it” said Payel Dey.
Vicky Deb who was last seen in the recently released film Drishyantar plays police officer Rohan Khan in the serial. “I am Jahaanara’s boyfriend who behaves like a kid when he is with her. But when he wears the police uniform, he is somebody else. The serial showcases the problems of Triple Talaq, orthodox ideologies and also tries to give a message. Hope it is accepted by the audience” said the actor.
Shweta Mishra who is from Berhampore will be seen as Jahaanara in the serial. The actress who is making her debut with this serial thanked her co-stars for making her journey so easy. After passing Botany Honours, she had done corporate jobs before beginning to work as an assistant director in production company Trickster. According to the young actress, the experience as an assistant director has mould her into becoming an actress. It was from there that she got the connection and landed up with the role.
The serial is produced by Baabu Banik Production and Friends’ Communication. The creative director is Baabu Banik. The director is Champak Dey and Subrata Sharma.

Jahaanara will be aired from 3rd September, Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Colors Bangla.
