Video: Manojder Adbhut Bari Trailer Launch
Director Anindya Chatterjee’s upcoming Bengali film Manojder Adbut Bari is based on eminent Bengali writer Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s novel by the same name. The trailer of this much awaited film was released recently in the presence of the director, Sandhya Roy, Abir Chatterjee, Chhanda Karanji, Abhijit Guha, Soham Maitra, Purab Seal Acharya, Chandril and others.
The story Manojder Adbhut Bari is going to complete 50 years in 2018. So it is very fitting that the film is also releasing the same year.
Speaking about the film, the director said “I am thankful to the producers Windows who has supported me immensely. This is my second film with them after Projapoti Biskut. The film will be a great source of nostalgia for many people who have grown up reading this story. I hope that they like the film too”.
Sumit Samaddar plays Nishi Daroga in the film. “Working in this film reminded me of my work in another film named Patalghar. When I learnt that Anindya was making this film on such a wonderful story, I thought I will give him a call to cast me in a role in the film. But thankfully he called me and offered me to play Nishi Daroga” said the actor.
Purab Seal Acharya plays Saroj, Manoj’s elder brother in the film. “Saroj is a young boy just like me. So I had no trouble in playing the role in this film. I had a great time shooting the film” said the young actor.
The role of Manoj has been played by actor Soham Maitra. He had earlier worked in films like Chaplin and Chauranga. Director Anindya has watched his performances in those films and then had approached him to play Manoj. “The biggest challenge in playing Manoj was to understand his wavelength. He belongs to an era where there was no television or mobile phones. I had to become him. But thankfully, Anindya da explained everything very well and I could do my part. Abir da also was a huge on the sets of the film. The other actors too helped me and supported me” said Soham.
Sandhya Roy who is returning to the silver screen after a long time with this film said “I am glad that after working with directors like Satyajit Ray and others, I am still getting a chance to feature in films made by young and talented directors of today’s times. I just wish my role was a little bit longer in the film”.
The film is eyeing for release on 12th October.
