Video: Interview of Actress Mani Bhattachariya
Actress Mani Bhattachariya is awaiting the release of upcoming Bengali film Kelo. Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught up with the actress in an exclusive chat. Excerpts..
Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana- Tell us something about your character in Kelo.
Mani Bhattachariya- I play Munni, who is a girl living in the slum just like Kelo. She is a lively girl who often guides Kelo when he is in a dilemma. She is straightforward too. I have loved playing Munni in the film.
How was the working experience?
Mani Bhattachariya- It was a wonderful experience. Director Shankar Roy is a gem of a person. After every shot, I used to ask him whether I have done the shot well. He used to motivate me and say I have done a good job. That is a huge boost for my morale. Even after editing, he called me up and said which scenes I have done really great.
Apart from this film, what are your other projects?
Mani Bhattachariya- I have been working in the Bhojpuri industry for the past one and a half year. I have worked with some of the top actors like Pawan Singh and so on. My last release was “Wanted” which has been a massive hit. The item song in the film has garnered huge views. I am also working in Colors Bangla serial Ma Manasa where I am playing the role of Behula.
Why did you shift to Bhojpuri films? Is it because you did not get quality work in the Bengali industry?
Mani Bhattachariya- I have working from a small age. I have done many hit serials like Agniparikha, Mohanbaganer Meye, Soubhaggabati and so on. I have got a lot from the Bengali industry. I have acted in fifteen serials out of which in five or six, I was the lead actress. I have also acted in Bengali film Char. Since my target is to enter Bollywood, I have entered the Bhojpuri industry. I have already done some modelling assignments in Mumbai. I also got to share screen space with Vidya Balan too. So I am taking small steps to achieve my dream.
You have acted in the small screen and also for films- which do you enjoy more?
Mani Bhattachariya– When acting for the small screen as a lead, you enter a contract and there is no fixed time when you will get back home. But in the case of films, you can do the work in a relaxed manner. If there is a song sequence, you know there will be an outdoor for sure.
Will we get to see you acting in South Indian films?
Mani Bhattachariya- I am learning Tamil and Telegu. Offers are also coming from the industry. Let something concrete happen. Then I will inform my fans for sure.
Best of luck Mani for your future endeavours!!
