World poetry combined with Tagore’s songs will be presented in an event Footprints, World Poetry and Rabindrasangeet.
“Footprints” is an attempt to bridge the ever growing gaps between arts and humanity through a blend of poetry from around the world with the ethos and pathos of Rabindrasangeet.
The initiative is the brain child of Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee.
The event will showcase Spoken Words by fashion designer Agnimitra Paul and interdisciplinary artist Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, Rabindrsangeet by Srabani Sen and Dr Soumitra Sengupta.
Tumi kon bhaganer pothe ele, Diboso rajani and some other common songs will be performed by Srabani Sen at the event. An album titled “Let Me Not Sleep” by Srabani Sen and Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee with similar aspects was brought out some years ago. Srabani Sen praised Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee for the initiative and she highlighted that it will be a pleasure to work with Soumitra Sengupta in this event.
Agnimitra Paul will be reciting for the first time and she termed this experience as nervous and exciting. She had this yearning to recite on stage for a long time now. Sujoy had been asking her to do recitation for a long time. And this time she agreed to do this. The ace designer had taken up this challenge and she said that Sujoy Prasad had been teaching her the nuances of reciting poetry.
Poetry by Robert Frost, Pablo Neruda, Elizabeth Bishop and other poets will be recited at the event, revealed Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee.
The event will take place on 2nd October from 6.45 pm at ICCR, Kolkata.
