Rathindranath Tagore, the son of Rabindranath Tagore was the unsung hero in the Tagore family. His contribution to the development of Shantiniketan and setting up of Viswabharati was immense. Keeping this in mind, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee came up with Rabi o Rathi.
Conceptualized by arts personality Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee and scripted by Chaitali Dasgupta, Rabi o Rathi celebrated the life and times of Rathindranath Tagore through dramatized readings and Rabindrasangeet by Prabuddha Raha and Suchhanda Ghosh. Chaitali, Sujoy and actress Ratasree built up the narrative with finesse and sensitivity while the vocalists added the right flavour to the lesser known travails of Rathindranath. The high point of the informative script was where Rathindranath was not even considered to be in the committee of his father’s birth centenary celebrations. Chaitali’s signature storytelling was complemented by Sujoy’s mesmerzing articulation.
The evening began with an introduction by world-renowned historian Dr. Sabyasachi Bhattacharya. Swatilekha Sengupta, Sohini Sengupta, Sohini Sarkar, Anjana Basu, Pranati Tagore, Pramita Mallick, Nabaneeta Dev Sen, Kalyani Kaji, Saswati Guhathakurta, Subha Pal, Malabika Bhattacharya, Saptarshi Maulik and many others were present in the audience seat at this event.
