Rakshak Foundation, a social welfare organization in association with the Directorate Of Correctional Services, West Bengal, launched jute products made by the inmates of Correctional Services under the theme ‘Jute Story Beyond Bars”. They also announced popularization and propagation of these products through different National and International platforms.
Sri Arun Kumar Gupta, IPS, DG, IGP, Correctional Services, Govt. of West Bengal, Usha Uthup, Wasim Kapoor, Ushoshi Sengupta and Suchandra Vaaniya along with other eminent dignitaries were present to grace the occasion.
This is the official embarkation of the initiative “Jute story beyond bars” taken by the Rakshak Foundation in collaboration with the Directorate Of Correctional Services, West Bengal under the guidance of Ms. Chaitali Das, Managing Trustee of the Rakshak Foundation and the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Millennium.
The initiative is novel as it provides an innovative platform for the inmates of the prisons in West Bengal by coordinated skill development effort for them in the domain of artisanal manufacture of jute products.
This will help rekindle the usage of jute by highlighting the sustainability and how customized products for corporate gifting can also be made. Franchisees for these exotic products are also sought by the Rakshak Foundation.
With the help of such initiatives, the inmates will be profited and jute will be propagated worldwide.
