92.7 Big FM Initiates Sapling Drive to contribute to a Greener Kolkata; Open Tee Bioscope Stars Promote the Event

In order to spread the message of a greener Kolkata, a campaign was started by 92.7 BIG FM. The initiative has been named Kolkata Green Initiative. This campaign was kick started at Hatibagan, which moved to Picnic Gardens and Ahirtola subsequently.

Bengali film Open tee Bioscope stars namely Surangana Bandopadhyay and Ritabrata Mukhopadhyay were present on the occasion. The two young actors gave away a total of 9270 saplings to the communities to make the city greener.

“Initiatives of this kind are important and needs to be promoted. Only then can the city become cleaner, reducing the pollution levels considerably. I am glad I have been invited for such an event” said Surangana Bandopadhyay.

With such steps being taken up by 92.7 BIG FM, one of the popular radio stations in the city, we can hope that the landscape of the city will turn a bit green in the future days to come.

Musical Evening Baadh Bhenge Dao celebrates India and Bangladesh’s shared love for Tagore; 92.7 Big FM Initiative

The two nations namely India and Bangladesh may be separated by the international border but when it comes to Rabindranath Tagore and his works, the two nations are united. This was again proved by the musical concert Baadh Bhenge Dao which took place at GD Birla Sabhaghar recently.

Lopamudra Mita, Rupankar Bagchi represented India while Bangladeshi singers Mita Huq and Lily Islam represented the other nation at the concert. The singers regaled the audience with their rendering of one Tagore song after the other. The event was indeed a memorable one for the lovers of Rabindra Sangeet living on both sides of the border.

The success of this event re-instated the fact that Indian and Bangladesh still share the same vibes when it comes to art and music, more so when it concerns Rabindranath Tagore.

This event was the final culmination of the month long initiative of 92.7 Big FM to celebrate the 154th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore titled Big Rabi Porbo.

The new show C/O Kolkata will showcase the city of Kolkata in a new light altogether. With the help of this show, the old Kolkata will be revived and the listeners will travel to the bygone.

Speaking at the occasion Anindya Bose said “We have grown up in a time when we lived without cell phones and internet. Our upbringing was different from the children of today. With this show this nostalgia will be revived. One USP of the show is common people will be brought to the show and they will be sharing their views on the changing scenario of the city”.

Singer Surojit who had known Anindya for many years now was extremely confident about Anindya’s stint as a host on radio. “The way he had shifted from singing to writing lyrics to penning down film scripts, I am sure he will be successful as a radio jockey also. I wish him all the best”.

The new show C/O Kolkata will be aired on 92.7 BIG FM from Monday to Friday every week from 5 to 7 pm.

Grand Finale of “Rannaghare BIG Sreemati” presented by 92.7 BIG FM; A competition for the culinary talented of Kolkata

92.7 BIG FM, nation’s leading radio network presented the grand finale of “Rannaghare BIG Sreemati” recently. Popular TV host Sudipa Mukhopadhyay along with a Chef Indranil Roy Chowdhury and Pradeep Rojario acted as the judges of this cooking competition.

92.7 BIG FM has taken this initiative to celebrate the winter with the traditional cuisine of Bengal. Promising participants who are also the listeners of 92.7 BIG FM from all over the city had taken part in this culinary competition. After crossing various levels of the competition, they reached the finals.

Sudipa Mukhopadhyay said “I love to eat and coming to judge a food competition gives the foodie in me great happiness”.

According to RJ Kaushik, who was also present at the event “We have so many excellent cooks in Kolkata. They have the urge to learn and grow. The competition is a celebration of the aspiring cooks in the city. Whether one is a self taught cook or a culinary school graduate, may the best one win in the competition”.

Initiatives of this kind will help in popularizing the local and traditional cuisines and giving the budding chefs a talent to showcase their talents in front of the world.

Indo-Bangladesh Art exhibition Inaugurated by Pandit Bickram Ghosh and Team of Upcoming Bengali Film Monihara

Prachi-Protichi-ExhibitionThe Indo-Bangladesh art exhibition was inaugurated in the august presence of Pandit Bickram Ghosh, actress Ushashie, artist Sunil Das, Lieutant General Raman Dhawan and cast of the upcoming Bengali film Monihara at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. The art exhibition was organized by Prachi Protichi.

Sixty five leading painters and sculptors of both the countries have participated in this exhibition. Some of the Indian artists who have taken part in this exhibition include Asish Rehman, Rabin Mandal, Ram Kumar Manna, Sekar Kar, Sankar Ghosh, Jatin Das, Ganesh Haloi, Bimal Kundu, Indra Duggar, Kinkar Saha, Niranjan pradhan, Thota Baikuntham, Sajal Mitra, Rup Chand Kundu and others. The artists from Bangladesh include Alokesh Ghosh, Dulal Chandra Gain, Ranjit Das, Hashem Kham, Jamal Ahmed and others.

Speaking at the occasion, Lieutant General Raman Dhawan said that this is a good way of fostering the relations between the two countries. “Art is one of the most common ways of fostering good relations and also exchanging creative ideas among the artists of the two countries”.

Paintings depicting various thoughts in different mediums were found at the exhibition. Artworks also adorned the exhibition premises.

The exhibition will continue till the 20th of January 2015.
