Upcoming Bengali Film Black Coffee Promises a Sneak Peak into the Real World of those who Roll the Reels


The announcement of the upcoming Bengali film Black Coffee took place in the august presence of Saswata Chatterjee, Paoli Dam, Koel Dhar, Anupam Roy and director Atanu Bose.


Speaking at the occasion, the director said “The film is about Tirtharaj Roy who is a director by profession. Srabani, a successful actress becomes the source of interest in the life of the director. This has an effect on Tirtharaj Roy’s domestic life. What happens next is what the film all about. The film has drama, relationships to keep the audience engrossed” said director Atanu Bose.

Anupam Roy who is composing the music for the film said he is sticking strictly to the script for composing the songs which is still in process.


When asked why Saswata Chatterjee, Paoli Dam and Koel Dhar have been selected as the lead artists, the director said “I feel only Apu da (Saswata) can do justice to a character with depth, intelligence and the unravel the creative layers attached to the character. Koel has expressive eyes and the right body language required for the role of the wife of the main protagonist. As for the selection of Paoli, she has great acting skills and good voice and was immediately on my mind when the script got completed”.


Supriyo Dutta is the DOP while Sanjib Dutta will be editing the film. Biswajit Chakraborty, Sankar Chakraboty, Partha Sarathi Deb, Swagata Basu will be seen in important roles in the upcoming Bengali film.

Black Coffee is produced by Fire Bird Entertainment, powered by Mr. Mrinal Kanti Chatterjee.

E-Bioscope Gives Short Film Makers a Global Platform to Showcase their Talents; Contest Winners Felicitated

Bangla Online Short Film Festival- E-Bioscope

The first international Bangla online short film festival- E-bioscope came together with the sole aim of promoting new talent. This festival helps upcoming film makers to show their films to a global audience. This festival exhibited about eighty short films for ninety days. Directors Q, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and Suman Ghosh served as juries for the film festival. This initiative was undertaken by Arijit Dutta, MD of Priya Entertainments and Oney Seal of Bongflix.com. Abhijit Paul’s short film “Scripted” was selected as the best film in the festival.


Speaking at the occasion Arijit Dutta said “This project is very close to my heart. When I first heard about the project I had agreed to carry on with this initiative. There are people with great ideas but they often do not get the platform to showcase their talents. With this initiative we will be providing them with a platform”.


Along with the website of e-bioscope the Facebook, Google Plus pages were used to create awareness about the project post as well make way for submissions by 31st August 2014. However seeing the huge response, the deadline was extended to September 2014. About hundred films were submitted initially from which the sorting for the best twenty films were done. Viewers worldwide voted for the top twenty movies within a time period of ninety days. The jury then selected and picked the best three films from amongst the lot.


The first runner up was the film Batik o Bigyapon while the second runner up was Pain. The best poster of the Bangla short film festival went to “Kleptomaniac at the airport”.


E-Bioscope surely is a noble initiative undertaken by Priya Entertainments and Bongflix. This will go a long way in future to help the young and budding talents.
