Bollywood Film PINK Actors Meet the Press in Kolkata

Video: New Bollywood Film PINK Stars in Kolkata

“PINK should have been made ten years ago but there is an element called destiny. It was destined that it will be made now. And lo!! It was made. But the fact is it has been made and a step has been taken in the direction, which is important. That must be appreciated” said Amitabh Bachchan at the press conference of the Bollywood film PINK. Big B was in Kolkata along with co-actors Taapsee Pannu, Angad Bedi, creative producer Shoojit Sircar and director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.

“The color Pink ironically has always been associated with girls. Girl’s dresses must be pink while that of /boys must be blue. Who has laid down the rules for this thing? Next when a girl is growing up, she will be given miniature cooking utensils and the boys will be given cars and guns to play with. The discrimination starts in our society very early. But a woman can ride horses or even drive fast cars. Even the women athletes have performed so brilliantly and also better than the male athletes at Rio Olympics and also at the Paralympics” said Big B.

He also said “There are things changing and many more shackles will be broken from one generation to another. When I used to act earlier, the number of women on the sets was limited only to the heroine. She was accompanied by her mother or the chaperone. But now 75 percent of the workforce on a film’s set are women!! Young girls are taking care of all departments that were earlier handled exclusively by men. Even influential leaders in our country today are women like Mamata Banerjee and Jayalalitha. PINK cannot be described therefore. ‘No’ has also found acceptance among the audience. It is not a word but a sentence in itself”.

The mask that Big B wears in the film was introduced to him by his son Abhishek. “When you wear the mask, you cannot breathe easily. You find it hard to breathe. This leads to exercising your lungs. Long distance runners use this to increase lung strength. I had this with me one day and Shoojit asked me to use this in the film” revealed Big B.

Shoojit Sircar gave some information about rights that many women were not even aware of. “The rule is that if any woman feels that her rights have been violated, she can go to any police station at midnight or on a national holiday and she will be heard and her FIR will be registered. If the person is from outside Kolkata, then she can use the system of Zero FIR. Still they are figuring on using this technique in the best way possible. They will be using the film to promote Zero FIR”.

The ladies in Big B’s family are presently out of the country and hence they could not watch the film as yet. But once they return Big B mentioned that he will surely take them to watch the film. The only family member to have watched the film is his son Abhishek Bachchan. “He found the film to be incredible. I shared an audience’s message with him and he was happy that what he said is also the reaction of the audiences too. I think that the ladies in my family will have a similar reaction to the film like the other women in our country” revealed Big B.

Taapsee Pannu said “The film was so stressful mentally that I went on a weeklong break after it got completed. I did not have a single light moment during the shooting of the film. A lot of mental work went in to portray the fact that I was first the victim and then I became the survivor. It was very grueling. However, we did not have many retakes which was immensely helpful”.

Angad Bedi who plays the role of Rajveer in the film said “I used to feel so horrible when the girls used to cry in the court room scenes. I felt like giving them a hug. But Shoojit da did not allow that as he said that my character in the film is not like that. Rajveer was a staunch believer in a certain feudal system and I had to stick to that”.

PINK is surely not a color anymore. It has become a color of strength and empowerment. So if you have not watched Pink yet, do watch it along with the ladies in your house!! It is a film that deserves to be watched!!

Abhishek Bachchan promotes film New Bollywood Hindi Film “All is Well” in Kolkata; Tale of the modern day Shravan Kumar

Bollywood film ‘All is Well’ Promotions

Abhishek Bachchan, producer Varun Bajaj and director Umesh Shukla were in the city for the promotions of the upcoming Bollywood film All Is Well in Kolkata. The trio met and interacted with the media at the press conference.

“The film All Is Well is about a road trip undertaken by a son and a father. What happens on the road trip is what the film is all about. The father and the son do not share a good relationship. What happens in the course of the trip is what the audiences will get to see in this film” said director Umesh Shukla.

The music of the film which has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya has been getting much popularity among the audiences especially the track Chaar Shanivaar. “I like the song Chaar Shaanivaar the most among all the songs in the film. Nachan Farrate with Sonakshi was also a fun song to shoot for this film” said Abhishek Bachchan.

When asked about his chemistry with Rishi Kapoor, the actor was full of praises for the veteran actor. “This is a dream come true for me. I admire him and when I got the chance to share screen space with him, it felt awesome. He is so lively and energetic that he used to put the youngsters far behind. We even forgot his age at times” said Abhishek Bachchan.

Director Umesh Shukla, the man behind the hit film OMG-Oh My God! hailed Abhishek’s character in the film as a modern day Shravan Kumar. “He is a devoted son who tries to balance the relationship between his parents. This film like OMG-Oh My God has a universal appeal too. “OMG-Oh My God!” dealt with people and religion while this film deals with family and relationships. Both are universal topics” said the director.

The film All Is Well is slated for release on the 21st of August 2015.

“Promoting Bengali Films and Bengal’s Culture is a matter of Pride and Privilege”, says Shah Rukh Khan; HNY Team Visits Kolkata to Celebrate Film’s Success with Fans

Shah Rukh Khan with his Happy New Year Team Visits Kolkata

The New Bollywood Film Happy New Year Team comprising of Shahrukh Khan, Sonu Sood, Farah Khan and Vivaan Shah was in Kolkata yesterday to promote their film as well be a part of a show at Kolkata’s St. Xavier’s College celebrating the success of the blockbuster.

Though three members of the team, namely Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani were missing owed to a shooting schedule, an ISL match and family function respectively, King Khan aptly made up for their absence by not only apologizing but also by patiently answering way too many questions than was actually scheduled.

After the patient wait, the media had a volley of questions for the King of Romance who very tactfully answered the ones that were relevant to films and in his usual graceful manner dodged the ones that were hinted towards the political scenario of the state.

One interesting aspect that came out during the conversation with the press was that SRK never reads reviews of his own films and as he puts it, “As soon as I am done with a film, I am completely done with it”; and this practice, as the superstar stated, was grilled into him during the early phases of his career by none other than Mr. Mahesh Bhatt.

Though not too many questions were directed towards the other stars, Vivaan, the youngest member of the crew was definitely asked if during the shoot he was always the prankster or the one on whom pranks were played by the seniors to which Vivaan said that it was always a very fun atmosphere during the shoot and all of them used to keep pulling each others legs and had loads of fun in doing things together.

Salmaan Khan, who has time and again been labeled as Shahrukh’s arch rival had promoted Happy New Year on his super hit reality show Big Boss 8 on Colors Channel which remained the talk of the Tinsel town for long and when asked about his reaction on the same, The Badshah that SRK is said that it was a wonderful gesture by Salman and he is very grateful to him for the same. Shahrukh Khan also said that this little gesture would also surely help in giving the industry the true picture and people will stop talking about the tussle between stars as Bollywood is one big family and everybody there works for a common goal and that is good cinema and entertainment.

Another interesting statement made by Shahrukh Khan when questioned about his duty of promoting Bengali Films was, “Promoting the culture and even the films of Bengal is neither my duty nor my responsibility, it is rather my privilege and though I am taking a little time to put things into action, I have my plans in place and will do my very best to promote the state not just because I am its brand ambassador but because I firmly believe that Kolkata is the cultural hub of the country and it needs to be carefully nurtured”.

After King Khan’s passionate involvement with cricket and his Kolkata team KKR, his not owning a football team and participating in ISL definitely came as a surprise for the city denizens and when asked, King Khan made another historical statement and said that he did not participate because he did not get the Kolkata team and he does not prefer to take up any team other than that of Kolkata and is so finicky in his choice that if not with a Kolkata team, he would prefer never playing football.

And as is the custom, just as the time for the King Khan to wish the city Good Night was closing in, requests started coming in for a dance and some selfies with Shahrukh to which SRK willing obliged and the press conference came to an end with his fans on an all-time high!

Happy New Year, directed by Farah Khan and produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainments has already broken all records and turned out to be one of the biggest Box office hits of the year and Team Sholoana Bangaliana sincerely hopes that brand SRK will continue to entertain his fans for many more years to come.
