In a bid to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the Iran Society announced a year long program recently at a press conference. The three day international seminar which will be held on the 12th, 13th and 14th Septmeber 2014 was announced at the press meet. Mr. Hashil Andul Halim, patron of Iran Society and former speaker, West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Mr. Sitaram Sharma, Mr. Ahmed Saeed Mahilabadi and Mr. R. M. Chopra.
The main objective behind this year long commemorative program is to remember the contribution and commitment of Maulana Azad for the development of a secular and democratic India. He epitomized national integration and focused on the Hindu-Muslim unity also. The Iran Society believes that there is a great requirement of programs and initiatives highlighting the efforts of Maulana Azad. He was not only a great freedom fighter but also a visionary, architect of Indian educational system, builder of modern India and a great contributor towards the functioning of the Iran Society.
The three day international seminar- 12th to 14th of September 2014 will be inaugurated by M. Hamid Ansari, Hon’ble Vice-president of India as the Chief Guest. On the 12th of September, the seminar will be inaugurated and a play will be enacted on Maulana Azad by Padma Shri recipient Tom Alter. The seminar will also witness many scholars and academicians from countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan participating in the seminar. Some of the scholars and academicians will be presenting research papers on Maulana Azad.
