Premiere of Agnidev Chatterjee’s Film Dark Chocolate; Film on Sheena Bora Murder Case

The premiere of ace director Agnidev Chatterjee’s film Dark Chocolate took place recently at Priya Cinema. Present at the premiere was Agnidev Chatterjee, Mahima Chaudhry, Shataf Figar, Mumtaz Sorcar, producer Pradip Churiwal and others.

The film is based on the gruesome murder of Sheena Bora, who is the daughter of Peter Mukherjea and Indrani Mukherjea. Mahima Chaudhry will be seen in the role of Ishani Banerjee, a character which has been based on the prime accused in the murder Indrani Mukherjea. Riya Sen plays the role of Rina Bardhan, the role inspired by Sheena Bora. Sudeep Mukherjee will be seen in the film as Peter Mukherjea.

Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhry made her debut in Bengali films with Dark Chocolate. She even received the Best Actress at FOG Festival for her role as Ishani Banerjee in the film.

Actress Mahima Choudhury Receives Best Actress Award for Dark Chocolate at Festival of Globe (FOG)

Bollywood actress Mahima Choudhury has been awarded the best actress for the movie Dark Chocolate that premiered at the Festival of Globe (FOG) in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco, California.

​Directed by Agnidev Chatterjee and produced by Pradip Churiwal, the movie is a fictional take based on the gruesome real life murder of Sheena Bora. FOG is one of the biggest festivals for the Indian Diaspora in the USA. Organized by Festival of Globe and Federation of Indo Americans, a Non-Profit Organization, FOG features the best of world cinema with a gateway to Silicon Valley that fosters creative and technical talent.

Actor Mahima Chowdhury said “I am deeply honored. To be recognized for acting is the greatest honor for an actress.”

Besides Mahima, Riya Sen, Rajesh Sharma, Mumtaz Sorcar, Indrashis Roy, Kaushik Sen and Sudip Mukherjee will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

The movie is set for pan-India release on September 2.

Agnidev Chatterjee’s Film Dark Chocolate to Premiere at FOG Film Festival

Dark Chocolate will premiere at the Festival of Globe (FOG) in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco, California on Saturday August 13. Directed by Agnidev Chatterjee and produced by Pradip Churiwal, the movie is a fictional take based on the gruesome murder of Sheena Bora.

FOG is one of the biggest festivals for the Indian diaspora in the USA. Organized by Festival of Globe and Federation of Indo Americans, a Non-Profit Organization, FOG features the best of world cinema with a gateway to Silicon Valley that fosters creative and technical talent.

Actor Mahima Chowdhury who will be the guest of honor at the premiere said, ”Looking forward to seeing the movie being premiered at FOG. I am quite excited about the entire thing”.

Director Agnidev Chatterjee said “It is a great honor to see the movie being premiered at a prestigious festival like FOG. I am extremely hopeful that the people will love the movie. It is a take on lure of money, power and crime.”

Besides Mahima, Riya Sen plays a significant role in the movie, along with Rajesh Sharma, Mumtaz Sorcar, Indrashis Roy, Kaushik Sen and Sudip Mukherjee.

Director Samik Roy Choudhury’s Film D Major Selected at Prestigious FOG International Film Festival

“D Major” a film by Samik Roy Choudhury has been selected for the prestigious FOG (Festival of Globe) International Film Festival,Silicon Valley,San Francisco. The other two Bengali films which will be show in this festival are “Hemanta” by Anjan Dutta, “Dark Chocolate” by Agnidev Chatterjee.

FOG Extravaganza 2016 is a mega event slated to run through 10 days (5th Aug to 14th Aug). Over 300,000 people are expected to participate in multiple events that are part of this gala. Film and music celebrities and thought leaders from across the globe are among the star attractions.

“D Major” is a Bengali film of 82 minutes duration. Written and directed by Samik Roy Choudhury , the film has been produced by Shivanggi Choudhury and Samik Roy Choudhury.

The story of the film is about Diya, a girl from the suburbs (Jhargram). She was sent to Kolkata by her parents to acquire a Bachelor degree on Bengali Language. But deep inside she had a desire to learn guitars. At the university she made new friends, Suchi, Manik and a few more. They came to know about her aspirations and help her to get a guitar teacher. The first teacher (Ron) who himself was an amateur actually misguided her towards addiction and drugs. After that she went to several teachers who either dragged her to immature politics or molested her sexually.

As failure came she went deeper into drugs. Her best friends (Suchi and Manik) tried for one last time to make her a student of an old Jazz guitarist. But the old guitarist died on the very first day she was about to attend his class. Drowned in addiction Diya takes wrong routes to buy her increased daily doses. Suchi or Manik couldn’t control her. Out of control Diya had to be hospitalized after an almost fatal overdose. She was taken back to her home where she suffers of withdrawal syndrome. Decision was taken by her parent that she had to get admitted to a rehab. What happens next? Will she be free from the effect of drugs?

DOP of the film is Prosenjit Koley and Samik. The editor is Sanglap Bhowmik(AJC, Babar naam Gandhiji, Egaro, 89, Crossing bridges[National Award winner], Cholai)

The music is by Samik – Kunaal and the songs have been sung by Timir Biswas, Koushik Chakraborty(Prithibi), Palbasha Siddique (Minnesota) and Anny Ahmed.

Moulika Shajwal, Poulomi Das, Kaustabh Bhowmik, Bidyut Roy Choudhury will be seen acting in pivotal roles in the film.

Upcoming Bengali Film Dark Chocolate Poster Launched; Fictional Adaptation of the Sheena Bora Murder Case Starring Mahima Choudhury

The sensational Sheena Bora murder case took the nation by storm. Macneill Engineering Pvt. Ltd has undertaken a fictional adaptation of this incident and with director Agnidev Chatterjee’s help has made it into a film titled “Dark Chocolate”. The poster launch of this film took place recently in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.

The film takes a fictional route to sketch the life and times of femme fatale Indrani Mukherjee. “The movie is a work of art and fiction made to entertain and also narrate one of the darkest episodes of modern times” said director Agnidev Chatterjee.

The film is shot in Hindi, English and Bengali like any urban set up.

“This is one of the most shocking and diabolical crimes of our times. I have done a lot of research on the case and while I have tried to remain true to most of the case. However, some parts have been fictionalized for cinematic appeal and also to keep the element of wonder alive in the movie till the very end,” said director Agnidev Chatterjee.

Mahima Choudhury plays Ishani inspired by the character of Indrani Mukherjee, while Riya Sen plays Rina Bardhan inspired by Sheena Bora. Mumtaz Sorcar, Indrashis Roy, Kaushik Sen, Biswajit Chakroborty, Sudip Mukherjee, Shataf Figar, Rajesh Sharma, Rwik Basu among others play other important characters in the movie.

The movie is slated for release soon.
