INIFD Organized Annual Graduating Fashion Show Tomorrow Makers; Budding Designers Showcased Innovative Designs

INIFD organized their annual graduating fashion show, Tomorrow Makers at Rang Durbaar, Swabhumi. The fashion show was held in the presence of celebrity guests and judges.

With Tomorrow Makers, INIFD made yet another indelible mark in the fashion industry. The event showcased the creative collections of INIFD’s final year Fashion and Textile students.

The evening saw director Arindam Sil, actor Tanusree Chakraborty and designers Sharbari Datta, Agnimitra Paul and Australian designer Bronwyn Latif in attendance. The dazzling and thematic choreography for the event was done by Tina Mukherjee and the evening saw Deshaa Nandii as showstopper. She will soon be seen into the Bengali film industry with her new venture Nayikar Bhoomika.

The evening saw 30 sequences with 19 being created by students from the fashion department of Lindsay Street campus while two more were created by the textile department. The other four sequences were created by students from the Lucknow campus. The evening also saw five sequences specially designed by Susan Mantosh along with two musical sessions by the young and dynamic singer Charisma.

The winners in various categories included Director’s Choice for best stylization: Huqqa, Best Design Collection Fashion: Didgeridoo, Best Fabric Development: Didgeridoo, Commercially Viable Design: Didgeridoo, Best Design Textile: Dot to Dot, Best Ramp Appeal Fashion: Calavera, Best Ramp Appeal Textile: Swarupa.

First Edition of The Bengal Fashion Expo 2017 Organized; Seven Kolkata Designers Showcased Their Creations

In a first of its kind unique theme Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata, and The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry came together for the first edition of The Bengal Fashion Expo 2017 (TBFE).

The brainchild of Dr Rupali Basu, President and CEO ER, Apollo Hospitals Group, India, and Director, The Bengal Fashion Expo, is based on the unique theme of ‘Walk the Winter in Cotton’.

TBFE’s Walk the Winter in Cotton edition showcased the latest creations of seven top designers of Kolkata, including Shamlu Dudeja, Sharbari Datta, Nandita Raja, Agnimitra Paul, Sayantan Sarkar, Pranay Baidya and Abhishek Ray. With choreography by Pinky Kenworthy, and makeup by Abhijit Chanda, the ramp-line included renowned names like Sneha Ghosh, Runa Laha, Ishika, Sonal, Shubhonita, Jessica Aaron, Tamori, Ruchira, Akbar Hasan, Sumit, Samrat and Satyabrata, with Biplab Ganguli compering the ceremonies.

Swarnali Kanjilal of Adi Mohani Mohan Kanjilal, Mr Sanjay Agarwal of Century Ply, Ms Keya Seth of Keya Seth Exclusive and Anita Agarwal of Minu Sarees were the Associate Partners of the event, while FDDI and Fratelli Wines were the Backstage Partner and Pouring Partner.

The evening saw the presence of Subhodip Ghosh, Director General, BCC&I, Sukanya Bose, Deputy Director, BCC&I, Koneenica Bandopadhyay, Alokananda Ray, Jennifer Heemstra, Nilanjana Chakraborty, Tanusree Shankar, Saheb Bhattacharya, Rupanjana Mitra, Locket Chatterjee and Mahua Chatterjee at the event.

The First Edition of The Bengal Fashion Expo 2017 Announced; Joint Effort of Apollo Hospitals and BCCI

Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata, and The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry have collaborated to launch the first edition of the theme based fashion show The Bengal Fashion Expo 2017 (TBFE). The event is the brainchild of Dr Rupali Basu, President and CEO ER, Apollo Hospitals Group, India, and Director, The Bengal Fashion Expo.

A press meet was organized to announce this event which was attended by Sutanu Ghosh, Subhodip Ghosh and Dr Rupali Basu.

The event is based on the unique theme of ‘Walk the Winter in Cotton’, which aims to showcase the richness of cotton textile and how it can be used in winter. Cotton is an important fabric of Bengal and how it can be used innovatively in dresses will be showcased at the fashion event.

TBFE’s Walk the Winter in Cotton edition will be showcasing the latest creations of seven top designers of Kolkata. Shamlu Dudeja (quilt collection-layered kantha), Shabari Datta (working with cotton for the first time), Nandita Raja (prints and cotton jewelry), Agnimitra Paul (Cotton jackets with Madhubani painting), Sayantan Sarkar (Boho-Chic collection), Pranay Baidya (Jacket dress, Cotton muslin, Digital prints) and Abhishek Ray (International style with Indian soul) are the seven designers whose designs will be showcased. Showstoppers will be there in each segment of the fashion show.

Dr. Basu plans of organizing this event every year and to take it to much higher levels in the coming times.

The event will take place on 11th February from 5pm at Pala, ITC Sonar.

Agnimitra Paul, Rukmini Maitra Grace Panel Discussion on Cancer at Bengal Oncology Foundation’s Annual Program

Like the past few years, Bengal Oncology Foundation this year too arranged their annual unique awareness program on Cancer with survivors meet at Birla Sabhaghar.

This unique program has consisted of a panel discussion on the topic ‘Can Healthy people Be Affected By Cancer?’ The aim of the discussion was to increase the level of cancer awareness in Bengal. It is well established that more than half of the cancers are diagnosed at the late stages and the survival is poor. Cancer is usually asymptomatic at the early stages. Thus screenings of normal healthy individuals are necessary to detect cancer at the curable stage.

The audience consisted of about 500 cancer survivors and their families. The panelists included Dr. Pradip Mitra, Dr. Subir Ganguly, Agnimitra Paul, Satyajit Chatterjee, Secretary Mohon Bagan Athletic Club and Rukmini Maitra, Actress and model. The discussion was moderated by Badsha Maitra and DR. Gautam Mukhopadhyay. The discussion was less on technical aspects and emphasized more on social awareness.

The program concluded with a dance drama ‘Dhrubajyoti Tumi Jishu’ by Alokananda Ray and troupe which symbolized peace and re- incarnation of Jesus Christ.

Photography Exhibition on Royal Bengal Tigers Titled Dokkhinray-er-Biswajatra Inaugurated

The Royal Bengal Tigers of Sunderban have always captured the fancy of the travelers as well as of authors and photographers alike. A photo exhibition named Dokkhinray-er-Biswajatra was inaugurated by Agnimitra Paul and Sri Gautam Deb, Hon’ble Minister Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal and other eminent dignitaries.

Most people think that the tigers of Sunderban cannot be sighted. It is with the idea of breaking this myth that GoingWild jointly presented this photography exhibition with Launcherz and supported by West Bengal Tourism Department.

Speaking at the event, Agnimitra Paul said “The pictures are just magnificent. The tigers have been captured in different poses by the photographers. It must have taken them so much time to get such snaps. Also they had to be extremely patient”.

The exhibition will continue till 11th December at ICCR.
