Tollywood Hero Aryan D. Roy

Director Riingo’s new movie Sada Kalo Abcha is all set to release and just before the movie hits the theaters introducing some very promising debutants and a fantastic new genre of film making, Sholoana Bangaliana caught up with Tollywood Hero Aryan D. Roy who is debuting with this movie and got to know a lot about Aryan’s journey into cinema and his way ahead: Excerpts –

Sholoana Bangaliana: Please tell us something about your growing up years, education and journey into the glamour world..

Aryan: I have done my schooling from St. Xaviers Durgapur and in school I was always very popular as I was into sports as well as a lot of other extra-curricular activities. I was first introduced to the world of dance and music by my mother who was a Dance teacher and under her tutelage I have done a lot of dance dramas and participated in a lot of cultural programs. As far as my interest in sports is concerned I was very passionate about football and always wanted to play for Manchester United. So till my Junior College years I was in Durgapur and shifted to Kolkata only when I came down to study Mechanical Engineering in Shibpur B.E. College.

Sholoana Bangaliana: You are an engineer by profession and a model and an actor too. So how and why did you get into modeling and acting after having pursued engineering?

Aryan: Well, honestly studies were always a pain but having said that I would also stress upon the fact that education is very important and it is your education that helps when you want to try out different things in life as life is also a math and you need to be sharp at logical reasoning to be successful and accomplish your dreams. It is not that I had always wanted to be an actor but yes just because I had that natural flair for dance and stage performances I always wanted to give acting a try. So, I planned my way and started modeling and did quite a few ad shoots for various brands and it is during one of these ad shoots that I met Riingo who liked my work and then and there promised me a role sometime soon.

Sholoana Bangaliana: As a successful model did you participate in any competition and get any titles and which all brands have you represented in your ad shoots?

Aryan: I have majorly done print shoots and also commercials for brands like Horlicks, Rose Valley etc. And along with all this I also have a job at Larsen & Toubro Ltd so I keep juggling all of these and try to manage all.

Sholoana Bangaliana: An actor who is busy with shoots and at the same time an engineer with Larsen & Toubro. You must be having a special mantra to manage your bosses happy in both the spheres.. Please share that with us..

Aryan: Well, honestly I too wish I had a mantra as right now I am having a tough time managing both and at times it feels  just like the stretch stunt on two motorbikes  that Ajay Devgan does so well in his movies. So, till now I am simply managing with the formula of “This is the last time”. But yes then again, I feel that given all these challenges, I am still employed as I do my work sincerely and do not give anyone a chance to complain.

To add to that I would also like to say that I am very thankful that I have this wonderful job with a fat pay package as this makes my life very secure and my struggle as a new comer in the glam world comparatively easy as I do not have to think about the struggle of survival and can only focus on my work. Acting was always a passion and a strong urge and I do not want to die with wishes un-fulfilled due to which I took up acting and am putting in all my efforts to master the art.

Sholoana Bangaliana: So what other wishes does Aryan want to fulfill so as not to die with regrets?

Aryan: Well as of now it is only acting and doing good roles and responsible roles that the audience will love and remember me for.

Sholoana Bangaliana: Please tell us something about your role in Sada Kalo Abcha and your experience of working with Riingo?

Aryan: I cannot disclose anything about the role, for that matter even my full name in the movie, as it is a thriller and every bit of it is a suspense and to add to that my character is being introduced in such a juncture that even a little bit of revelation can expose the entire plot, so I choose to keep mum.

My experience of working with Riingo was fantastic as he is very academically sound and understands the nuances of film making very well. Moreover from Riingo one should learn how to keep the spirits high as even with such a hectic schedule (the entire movie was shot just in fifteen days) that we had to follow during the shooting never did we seem him tired or slacking down. In fact he used to be like the energy transmitter for all of us. Riingo is also very passionate about his work and settles for nothing but just the best and most accurate shot.

Sholoana Bangaliana: How was Sayani as a co-actor?

Aryan: Not just Sayani, the entire team was just fantastic but yes Sayani and I shared a great camaraderie and every day after shoot all of us used to spend time together and I definitely had a great time working with the entire team.

Sholoana Bangaliana: What kind of homework do you do in order to hone your skills as an actor?

Aryan: Well, it is primarily a mind game and a mental preparation that is required. But yes along with that I do watch a lot of movies and I try to analyze how the actors are presenting themselves and what they are doing differently to stand out. Along with watching movies, the fact that I have done a lot of dance dramas with my mom helped a lot as I had picked up the expressions and gestures in those early years. Well, for that matter, there is an inherent actor within all of us and I guess this entire balancing act that I have been doing for the past six years keeping my superiors at work happy while pursuing my passion has indeed nurtured the actor in me.

Sholoana Bangaliana: What is your fitness regime?

Aryan: I am a fitness-freak and I enjoy hitting the gym and have been working out for the past 4-5 years now. I am also trained in Marshall Arts and I enjoy running too. Along with all this I also try to keep a tab on my food habits.

Sholoana Bangaliana: What social causes are you associated with or would like to support?

Aryan: Well, I have been associated with UNICEF for quite some time now and I am concerned that many people in our country do not even get the basic amenities. So I would like to try and help out in my own small ways.

Sholoana Bangaliana: Aryan’s favorite actress in Tollywood and Bollywood?

Aryan: I am spoilt for choices as such cannot pick out any one or two and this I am saying without being diplomatic at all.

Sholoana Bangaliana: Who is Aryan’s real life lady love?

Aryan: (After much coaxing) I have a beautiful wife, her name is Sonia and we have been married for the past two years. (Having said that Aryan also added “Dil to Abhi Bachha Hai”, a special message for all his female fans).

The conversation came to an end with Tollywood Hero Aryan D. Roy earnestly wishing that the audience likes his performance in the New Bangla Movie Sada Kalo Abcha and many other projects that he will be soon working in.

With New Bengali Movie Sada Kaalo Aabcha Director Riingo brings in the Hitchcockian genre of films into Tollywood

New Bengali Movie Sada Kaalo Aabcha

Alfred Hitchcock spells a thousand images before the audience and most of the images are painted in grey. They are also haunted from within. Director Riingo as a film maker has been intrigued and influenced by this great director. It is this belief in Hitchcock that the director chose the less taken path and created a visual illusion of mystery, twists and peril. The result is New Bengali Movie Sada Kaalo Aabcha. This is the director’s humble way of paying tribute to the director and his tryst to bring the Hitchcockian genre of film making into Tollywood.

In a conversation named “Elastic affair” (after the name of a film directed by Hitchcock), Riingo, Sayani Datta, Barun Chanda and Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee got candid about their views on Hitchcock and also about the film. They also released a book on the film which will give the readers an understanding of the nitty-gritty of the film. This is the first time that a book is being released for a film.

The story of the film is about a Delhi based writer who comes to Kolkakham with his wife who is a model by profession. They are for a holiday trip to the place. The writer meets with an accident and his past is a blur. He wakes up in a hospital after three days to an inspector questioning his identity. The only thing he can remember is his name Samrat Ray, his wife’s name Sayani and the hotel they are staying at. What happens next is what the audience will have to wait and see when the film releases on November 22nd.

“The film is one hour and fifty minutes long with crisp and engaging content avoiding the usual drags. Every scene of the film will keep you engrossed. You miss a scene and you will be at an utter loss in understanding the next scenes. It is like a tightly woven necklace. It is very engrossing and the suspense element which is very crucial to Hitchcockian films has been well maintained” said veteran Bengali actor Barun Chanda.

Sada Kaalo Aabcha promises to be different and will be a welcome break for the movie goers from the candy floss romances.
