Antaryatra, a coffee table book was recently released in the august presence of noted industrialist and art connoisseur Harshavardhan Neotia, National Award winning actress Vidya Balan and other eminent dignitaries. The book explores Jayasri Burman’s journey from 1996 until 2015, through her vibrant canvases and sculptures. The book is produced by Ambica Beri, of Gallery Sanskriti. Media personality Pritish Nandy read some of the poetry composed by him on Jayasri Burman’s sculptures.
The book depicts a full journey from the artist’s earlier works right up to the myriad and mythical universes she has created into her drawings, paintings, sculptures. The three hundred page book has a foreword by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachhan, poems by Pritish Nandy, art critic Rajiv Chandran’s expansive exposition of Jayasri Burman’s work and conversations with Ina Puri, columnist and curator.

The exhibition of 70 paintings and drawings and 14 large sculptures by Jayasri Burman was inaugurated the same evening by artists Sakti Burman and Ganesh Haloi. It will be showcased at the Birla Academy until the 27th of November and will then move to Gallery Sanskriti for the whole of December.
