Premiere of Bengali Film Bancha Phire Elo at Priya Cinema

The premiere of the Bengali film Bancha Phire Elo took place recently at Priya Cinema Hall. The cast of the film along with director Amitabha Pathak was present at the occasion.

The story of the film Bancha Phire Elo is about Debipur, a remote village in West Bengal. The village gains sudden importance among the people due to the proposed National Highway. Promoters soon come to the village after this proposal is passed. The rural beauty and culture of Debipur is soon destroyed and the village becomes a developing urban area. Bancha’s big garden which is located just beside the highway becomes a target of the promoters. He loves his garden more than his life. He plans on how to save his garden from these promoters.

“Many have watched the yesteryear film Bancharamer Bagan. This film is inspired from that film. It will be a great feeling for them. And those who have not watched that film they can enjoy the weekend by watching this film” said actor Rajatava Dutta.

The music of the film has been composed by Gora and Som. Singers Sudipto Gayen, Anwesa, Raaj and Poulumi have lent their voices to the songs in Bancha Phire Elo.

Pradip Bhttacharjee, Dipankar Dey (Zamindar Narahari Dutta), Biplob Chatterjee, Sumit Samaddar (Lingaswami Padambaram), Shantilal Mukherjee, Paran Banerjee, Bobby Chakraborty, Rajatava Dutta, June Maliah (Khedi), Pallabi Chatterjee, Madhabi Mukherjee, Mausumi Bhattacharya will be seen in pivotal roles in this film.

Director Amitabha Pathak’s film Banchha Elo Phire is currently being shot in different parts of the city. Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught up with the director and the cast consisting of June Maliah and Sumit Samaddar at the set in Nepalgunje.

The film revolves around Bancharam who is a resident of Debipur. After the National Highway is made beside his garden, the importance of Bancharam’s garden grows manifold. His grandson Guneswar wants to sell this land to promoter Jhunjhunwala. This leads to problems and Bancharam dies in the process. After his death, Bancharam’s spirit visits Zamindar Narahari Dutta and asks for his help. Despite being enemies during his lifetime, he takes the help of the Zamindar to stop his grandson from selling his garden. Will he be successful? This is what the story of Banchha Phire Elo is all about.

Kolkata-Bangla-cinema

Director Amitabha Pathak said “We have drawn inspiration from the film Bancharamer Bagan but this is no way a remake or a sequel to that film. The character Bancha even draws inspiration from that film and he says that in a dialogue in the film. The film gives the message of preserving the greenery. We do not aim to preach. But in the garb of comedy we will be carrying forth this message. The film is essentially a story of wish fulfillment”.

Pradip Bhttacharjee, Dipankar Dey (Zamindar Narahari Dutta), Biplob Chatterjee, Sumit Samaddar (Lingaswami Padambaram), Shantilal Mukherjee, Paran Banerjee, Bobby Chakraborty, Rajatava Dutta, June Maliah (Khedi), Pallabi Chatterjee, Madhabi Mukherjee, Mausumi Bhattacharya will be seen in important roles in this film.

Dressed as a village lady, June Maliah will be seen essaying out the role of Khedi in the film. “Khedi is Bancharam’s wife who has died eighty years ago. How the character undergoes a change in 2016 and how she becomes modern will make for an interesting watch for the audience” said the actress.

Bengali-comedy-film

Sumit Samaddar will be seen playing the role of Lingaswami Padambaram. “My character in the film wants to make South Indian films. The extent to which I have copied these films can be seen even in the way I dress myself. I am dressed like a South Indian and this character shows the recent trend in the film industry to copy or remake such films” said the actor.

June-Maliah-new-film

The film has been produced by Anindya Sengupta, Soumen Mukherjee and Toton Das. Nilanjan Talukdar has written the story while the concept is by Joy Sengupta. The music of the film is by Gora-Som. Prosen, Sabyasachi and Akash has penned down the lyrics. Poulami, Manorama, Annwesha, Raj and Sudipto have lent their voices to the songs in the film.

Though the release date has not been finalized yet, the film (sixty percent shooting already complete) is tentatively slated for release in October.
