Music Launch of Upcoming Bengali Film Colkatay Columbus; Bengali Audience Introduced to Acapella

The music launch of the upcoming Bengali film Colkatay Columbus took place at Tollygunge Club. Music director Neel Dutt, director Saurav Palodhi along with the cast of the film consisting of Mir as Christopher Columbus, Tanushree Chakraborty, Gaurav Chakraborty, Anirban Bhattacharya, Suchandra Vaaniya and Ritabhari Chakraborty was present at the music launch.

The music scored by Neel Dutt, is a great blend of Calcutta nostalgia with melodies of contemporaneous groove. The music featured in this satirical comedy, Saurav Palodhi’s directorial debut with Sony AATH and Mojo Productions, interweaves uncomplicatedly with the ethos of the film. The simultaneously mature and young compositions, with momentous and weighty lyrics, harmonise into the playful vehemence of the film.

This film composes of five songs. The first track “Ghum Bhanga Shokal” have been sung by Neel Dutt and Debanjali Chatterjee and the lyricist is Saurav Palodhi. “Shomoy Theme Jay” features Arko Mukherjee on vocals and Souvik Mishra as the lyricist. Souvik also penned down the words for the song “Ajker Ei” which features Dwaipayan Saha on the vocals with acapella by Neel Dutt and Savvy. The music, a delight for all listeners, introduces the Bengali film audience to the amalgamation of Bengali with acapella. The Columbus theme has been played by Amyt Dutt. Mir wrote the lyrics of the song ‘Ami Columbus Amake Cheno’.

The film is slated to hit the screens on 11th November, 2016.

Second YUVA MUSIC FESTIVAL announced; An Initiative in Aid of Nepal Earthquake Victims

Academy for Musical Excellence (AMEC) announced the second edition of the “Yuva Music Festival”, Transforming Lives with Music. The festival is going to be bigger this year with twenty concerts, ten competitions, six talk shows and one International Piano Master class and Workshop.

Yuva Music Festival of YMF’15 is basically a ‘Celebration of Creativity’ or a ‘Platform for the Young artists’. It is all about setting one’s passion into motion. Yuva Music Festival (YMF) is not only a collection of events to test the artistic skills of the youth from all over the country but also an endeavor to bring together eminent artists as well as celebrities across the globe. This will unite and strengthen the society through music.

Present at the press conference for Yuva Music Festival were Mr. Surendranath Majumdar, Director – YMF & AMEC; Mr. Stephane Amalir, Director – Alliance Française du Bengale; Mr. Amyt Dutta, eminent musician; Mr. Satrajit Sen, Filmmaker and Musician; Mr. Premendu Bikash Chaki, Cinematographer and Mr. Aritra Dasgupta, Singer alongside the talented students from Academy for Musical Excellence (AMEC).

YUVA-MUSIC-FESTIVAL

This year, the festival initiated a special undertaking. A musical concert on 9th May was held to mark the official beginning of the Yuva Music festival. Titled “We Shall Overcome” , the concert was organized in aid of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

Yuva Music Festival is a three month festival, culminating in a grand finale at Science City Auditorium on 3rd August 2015.
