Durga Puja is all about spreading love and joy. To cater to this philosophy and to keep the spirits of the puja alive, Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, celebrated this Durga Puja in Kolkata with a difference. They spread cheer in the lives of twenty senior citizens of Little Sisters of the Poor.
In the presence of the legendary dancer and choreographer Tanusree Shankar Vodafone celebrated the auspicious day of Shashthi by organising a special bus tour. This bus took the senior citizens on a pandal hopping spree to the ten most popular pandals in the city.
Anand Sahai, Business Head – Kolkata & West Bengal, Vodafone India said, “As a value based organisation, we at Vodafone, believe in enriching the lives of all segments of society. We thank Tanusree Shankar for coming forward for this noble initiative and making Durga Puja a special one for the senior citizens. It was a humbling experience to see how little things make a huge difference to these people. The activity has instilled a commitment within us to conduct such programmes more often”
For the senior citizens it was an overwhelming experience to visit the pandals without any hassel. To top it, they got to meet and interact with India’s leading danseuse Tanusree Shankar. This initiative was well appreciated by the NGO officials and also the senior citizens who felt that there is someone who cares for their happiness and comfort on a special occasion like Durga Puja. Sholoana Bangaliana salutes VODAFONE for this wonderful initiative.
