Bhajan King Anup Jalota was recently in the city to sing devotional songs (Bhajans) to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the late social activist Anandi Lall Poddar. The event took place at Hyatt Regency.

The Bhajan King disclosed that he found the songs of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam as some of the sweetest songs in the world. For the gifted singer, Tagore’s Ektuku Chhoya Lage is among the most soulful tracks that he has ever heard. “Only a Bengali writer could conjure up such emotions and feelings when two people do not touch each other but feel so close to each other” said the singer.
Coming back to Kolkata is just like homecoming for the reputed singer. “It feels good to see the city gearing up to welcome Goddess Kali and Diwali with so much enthusiasm. The one thing which always attracts me about the city is its undaunted spirit” added the singer.
The singer mesmerized the audiences with his hit Bhajans like Aisi lagi lagan, Hari naam ka pyala and others.
The audience thoroughly enjoyed the spirited performance by the reputed singer which was evident from the thunderous applause from the assembled gathering on the occasion.
