Two upcoming Bengali films Phire Elam and Sweet Sixteen were announced at a press conference held at the Princeton Club.
Both the films have been directed by Raja Banerjee. He has also written the story and the screenplay of both the films. He is making his debut with Phire Elam which deals with suicide, which has grown exponentially over the years. “Fight for love and not for death” is the tagline of this film. The film is about Jibon Pramanik, who is a motor mechanic. His father Montu sent him to school so that he can get education and become the bread winner for the family which he does to an extent. However, the increase in the daily needs of the individuals in his family drive him crazy and frustrated. He decides to commit suicide. Does he commit suicide or not is what the audience will have to come to the hall to watch.
Ratna Ghoshal, Dwijen Banerjee, Ajit Ghosh, Santana Basu, Kalyan Chatterjee, Sanjib Mondal, Angshu Dey, Soma Poddar will be seen in pivotal roles in this film Phire Elam. Alok Dhara is the editor of this film while the music has been handled by Suman Debnath.
Sweet Sixteen is the story of a high class family. Ayush, the main protagonist of this film is kept aloof from the daily happenings of life by his parents and friends. He tries to take some vital steps on 16th October. However the step he wanted to take was wrong and this realization comes with Disha’s help. What happens next is what the film is about. The film stars Biswajit Chakraborty, Kaushik Banerjee, Kanchan Mullick, Sanjib Sarkar and Rituparna Sengupta (in a guest role) in important roles.
The shooting of Phire Elam is complete and the director is eyeing to release the film in December. Shooting for Sweet Sixteen will begin in December.
