Director Duo Abhijit Guha-Sudeshna Roy’s Upcoming Bengali Film Ekla Cholo Re Exploring the Changing Equations of Man-Woman Relationships

The man-woman relationship and its stages of maturity have been a topic of many films and stories all over the world for so many years. However, with the advent of science and the evolution of independent and progressive thinking, this relationship is currently experiencing an altogether new equation where the laws of succession and propagation are no more dependent only on two humans dwelling together. Directed by the duo of Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy the upcoming Bengali film Ekla Cholo Re is all set to explore these changing equations of human relationships and Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught up with the team of this film shooting at Rabindra Sarobar Lake on the last day of their shoot.

“The film is a romantic comedy. It revolves around a girl named Ria who asks her boyfriend Srijit to marry her. Her pestering for marriage drives freaks Srijit out as he wants to enjoy life more and is not yet ready for a commitment as serious as marriage. Ria takes the decision to become a single mother and consults a doctor Rupam. Rupam is a doctor who specializes in IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) technique. What happens next is what the film is all about” said director Abhijit Guha in between shots.

Kaushik Roy who plays the role of the doctor, Rupam in the film had earlier worked with Sayani Ghosh. “We two are very good friends and this shows in our on-screen chemistry too. I have worked with her before on television. The audience hopefully will have a good time”. The actor also added that this is his first work with the director duo who he knew beforehand. “They are such good directors that I had a blast during the whole shoot. I want to work with them again” said the actor.

Sayani Ghosh who has completed another film with the director duo Bitnun described her character as interesting and very well sketched out. “She has a lot of shades. She is comic at times and tends to get angry at times. She is also comical and exudes nautanki at times” said Sayani.

Anindya who plays the role of Srijit, Ria’s boyfriend recently completed shooting for Amanush 2 starring Sohom and Payel Sarkar. The actor who had worked with the director duo in Bapi Bari Jaa about three years ago was super excited about working with them again.

June Maliah will be seen playing the role of the mother of Ria. “She plays an interesting character. Her husband left her and it is this incident which made her sour towards all men. She even warns her daughter not to trust men” said Sudeshna Roy.

The film will be telecast on Zee Bangla Cinema by the end of this year.
