In the august presence of Tollywood actors Prasenjit Chatterjee, Sohom Chakrabaty and director Haranath Chakrabarty, the mahurat of the upcoming Bengali film Lakshaved took place at NT1 Studios.
Directed by Sandip Choudhury, son of late Sri Anjan Choudhury, the story of the film is about a footballer who faces all odds to realize his dreams of playing in the club of his choice. Prem is a boy from a middle class family who wants to fulfill his father Krishanu’s wish of playing in East Bengal football club. Politics, financial crisis and other such constraints force him to take up a job and shelve his dream of playing for his dream club. Lakshaved is the story of him overcoming the odds and finally playing for his dream club East Bengal.
New comer Ranajoy Bishnu will be seen playing the role of Prem in the film. Azad (Rajesh Sharma), Susan (Maushumi Bhattacharya) and Cheema Okorie (as East Bengal coach) play catalysts to his success, while the arch villains are David (Rana Mitra) and his son Danny (Rudra, another debutant) and Dipankar Roy (footballer). Several footballers are expected be seen in cameos in this football centric movie.
Speaking with Sholoana Bangaliana, director Sandip Choudhury said “This is a film about football in Kolkata maidan and is a real life reflection of all footballers who have struggled to reach where they are today. Anyone who loves Kolkata football will identify with the film.”
“Unlike other films where players are used as trophies, Cheema and Dipankar have a role to play in the movie. If we use other footballers it will be to enrich the script and not for mere ornamentation. The hero and anti-hero have been trained for the last three months so that when they play football they look like footballers,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Tollywood Hero Prosenjit Chatterjee remarked “I share a very warm and cordial relationship with Anjan da and his family. I have known them for a very long time. I wish Sandip and his team all the very best for this film and hope it will be a grand success.”
“I started off under Anjan da and I will forever be happy that he saw the promise in me and encouraged me to make films. I continue to miss him till date” said Haranath Chakrabarty.
“I have known the Choudhury family since my days as Master Bittu, and today, after all these years I am really very happy to see Sandip direct Lakshaved. I wish the film all the success” said Soham.
The film is slated to begin shooting soon.
