What is common between films like Chak de India, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Lagaan or the soon to release Bollywood film Badlapur Boys? Well they are all films based on sports. Bollywood may not have an enviable film history when it comes to films on sports, but the industry is slowly making films on this less charted course. The soon to release film Badlapur Boys is based on the game of kabaddi, which has seen revived interest in the minds of the audience owed to the Pro-kabaddi league which took place recently.
The story of the film is mainly about farmer suicides and the solution to this grave issue that is sought in the game of kabaddi. According to the director Shailesh Varma, despite dealing with such serious issues, the film has the correct dose of entertainment. The director thought of making the film on kabaddi long before there were any promotions done for the game of kabaddi by the people.
Kolkata boy Nishan plays the role of Vijay in the film while Vicky Donor fame Puja Gupta plays the role of Manjili in the film. Saranya Mohan and Anu Kapoor will also be seen essaying important roles in the film.
The film Badlapur Boys releases on the 12th of December.
