3rd Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival; Treat for The Bengali Movie Buffs In The City


Are you living in Hyderabad? And you do not get to see the latest released Bengali movies? Do not worry as the third edition of the Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival will be catering to your needs and showcasing some of the popular Bengali films which have not only achieved acclaim in the country but also abroad.

The Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival (HBFF) is an initiative started by Bengalis living in Hyderabad. This is a not-for-profit cultural group. The group is run by a bunch of enthusiastic non-resident Bengalis to nurture Bengali culture and also help in cultural exchanges. The festival which began in 2014 is one of the three Bengali Film Festivals across the globe – after Dubai and Singapore. Every year eight Bengali movies are showcased including India premier of some movies.

The festival will include screening of movies (with subtitles) and a panel discussion – What makes a successful film: money, talent or networking? HBFF will premier two unreleased movies – Bridge and Kolkatar King. The other movies to be screened include Cinemawala, Anubrata Bhalo Acho?, Asa Jaoar Maajhe, Onyo Opala, Natoker Moto and Babar Naam Gandhiji.

The festival will begin on the 1st of July and continue till the 3rd at Prasad Preview Theatre.

Poster of upcoming Bengali Film Anubrato Bhalo Acho unveiled


The poster of the upcoming Bengali film Anubrato Bhalo Acho was recently unveiled in the august presence of the director Partha Sen, Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Debleena Dutta, Swastika Mukherjee, Ritwik Chakraborty and cancer surviving patient Priti Kana Bhattacharya and her family members. The event took place at Medica Super Speciality Hospital.


“Cancer has a great effect not only on the life of the patient but also on the life of the family members too. The patient and his/her family experience anxiety, anger and even hopelessness. For many people, they bond strongly after they get affected with the disease. The film Anubrato Bhalo Acho showcases such relationships” said director Partha Sen.


Debleena who plays the role of Neeta in the film said “The film is based on a sensitive issue. I play a last stage cancer patient and hence I had to take care that I do the portrayal in the best way possible. I just hope I have been able to do justice to the role. People should come and watch the film. Apart from being a film, it will also help in spreading awareness about this killer disease”.


Kharaj Mukherjee, Neel Mukherjee, Anindya Chatterjee, Sumit Samaddar will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

The film Anubrato Bhalo Acho is slated for release on the 7th of August.

Anubrato Bhalo Acho? Team celebrates actor Ritwik Chakraborty’s success in ImagineIndia International Film Festival

New Bengali Film Anubrata Bhalo Acho team Launches website

Director Partha Sen, Ritwik Chakraborty, Swastika Mukherjee, Debleena Dutta, Soumik Haldar were present to celebrate the success of actor Ritwik Chakraborty at 14th ImagineIndia International Film Festival, Madrid in the Best Actor segment.


The film Anubrato Bhalo Acho is the story of a man whose wife is afflicted with the deadly disease, Cancer. How he goes about in his life, his daily struggles, are what the film portrays.


Speaking at the occasion, director Partha Sen said “Cancer is a deadly disease which takes a toll not only on the person suffering from it but also on the family members. The film shows what happens to individuals while dealing with this disease”.


Swastika Mukherjee who plays the role of Jaya in the film was all smiles at the occasion. “I had worked with Partha da at the beginning of my career. I remember I was acting so badly that I was scolded badly by him. I even cried after receiving the scolding. And now the fact that I have acted in his film and actually made him cry with my acting is an achievement. I think I am acting better now” said the pretty actress with a broad smile.

Swastika also added that her role in the film made her realize how she would look in her old age.


Debleena Dutta who plays the role of Neeta found the character challenging as she had to lie in bed in all her scenes. “This is indeed a challenging role. I had to lie down and just emote. I hope I did it right and the audiences will appreciate my acting” said the feisty actress.

Neel Mukherjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Shreya Mazumder, Anindya Chatterjee and Sumit Samaddar will be seen in important roles in the film.


The website of the film was also launched on the occasion by the cast and crew of the film. A cake was also cut to celebrate Ritwik’s win as the Best Actor.

The film is slated for release on the 7th of August.
