92.7 BIG FM Launches ‘Mamo Mandir-a ke’, an album of Devotional Songs in Association with Raga Music

92.7 BIG FM, nation’s leading radio network launched an album of devotional songs ‘Mamo Mandir-a ke’ at The Press Club. The songs were written by the late Bengali poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. Veteran singers Haimanti Shukla, Sriradha Bandopadhyay, Shuvankar Bhashkar were present at the launch.

Music director Jaydeb Sen is behind the creation of the soulful songs in this devotional music album. The album features songs from the exclusive collection of Kazi Nazrul Islam who is a renowned Bengali poet, lyricist, revolutionary and a musician. The late poet has made great contributions to Shyama Sangeet and it is his songs which have been used in the music album.

The album has been launched under the banner of Raga Music and 92.7 BIG FM is the exclusive On Air partner for this music album. Listeners can tune in to the radio station 92.7 BIG FM and listen to the songs from the album on the morning show ‘Swaranagata’ by RJ Sumanta.

According to Mr. Ashwin Padmanabhan, National Business Head, 92.7 BIG FM, “We are making a great headway into devotional music. Since this is the festive season there is a demand for such music albums. We recently launched ‘Seher with Anup Jalota’ in Mumbai, and this is our second offering for the ardent listeners of devotional music in Kolkata.”

Anup Jalota also an Ardent Tagore Fan; Was in City for 100th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Anandi Lall Poddar

Bhajan King Anup Jalota was recently in the city to sing devotional songs (Bhajans) to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the late social activist Anandi Lall Poddar. The event took place at Hyatt Regency.

The Bhajan King disclosed that he found the songs of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam as some of the sweetest songs in the world. For the gifted singer, Tagore’s Ektuku Chhoya Lage is among the most soulful tracks that he has ever heard. “Only a Bengali writer could conjure up such emotions and feelings when two people do not touch each other but feel so close to each other” said the singer.

Coming back to Kolkata is just like homecoming for the reputed singer. “It feels good to see the city gearing up to welcome Goddess Kali and Diwali with so much enthusiasm. The one thing which always attracts me about the city is its undaunted spirit” added the singer.

The singer mesmerized the audiences with his hit Bhajans like Aisi lagi lagan, Hari naam ka pyala and others.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the spirited performance by the reputed singer which was evident from the thunderous applause from the assembled gathering on the occasion.
